Definition of News Item Text

News item text is text in English that contains information about the latest events and deserves to be reported to the public. Generally, only the most actual events that are considered important are included in a news item.

News item text has the characteristic of using short and concise language because it focuses directly on the main event. The title of the text or headline used always contains the main information that you want to highlight so that it can be immediately understood by others.

When creating a text, there is generally a structure that must be followed so that the content is easily understood by the reader. Likewise, the news item text is organized into certain sections.

How to make news item text must include 3 structures, namely core events, background and sources of information. Explanation per section below:

a. Core Event

This section is also known as the main event or newsworthy event. The main event is a summary of the main events that are the focus of the text. The explanation given must be solid, clear and straightforward so that important information can be conveyed perfectly.

b. Background

Every incident must have its own background. In preparing the news item, the background must be included which includes details of the causes, the people involved, the place of the incident, the time and the process of the incident.

c. Resources
