Definition of Gurindam

• Consists of two lines in the stanza.
• The maximum number of words per line is 10-14 words.

• Each gurindam line has a cause and effect relationship.
• The second line is the content.

Types of Gurindam

In general, gurindam are categorized into two types, namely:

1. Related Gurindam

This type of hooked gurindam is characterized by the existence of a connection between the first and second stanzas. The related Gurindam emphasizes the relationship between the stanzas so that the message to be conveyed can be more clearly described. So, the reader or listener understands the meaning of the gurindam.
