Short Short Example

1. My Healthy Spearhead
(Gayatri's work)

When the rooster crowed that morning, I knew there was a lot of activity waiting for me today. School, extracurricular, not to mention private lessons that took my time laughing with my father and mother. While squirming I still occasionally close my eyes,

"It would be beautiful if every morning I was free from the routine of cycling to school, studying, and studying", I muttered to myself.

As I woke up and rushed to the bathroom before my sister came in, I remembered what I needed to bring.

When I arrived at the dining room, my eyes went wide because I was the only one there. While my mother was cooking in the kitchen. This is not the usual scene this time around. Until my mother's question woke me up.

"Tumben Sunday like this you diligently wake up early Edo?"

Hah! It turns out that the day is indeed a holiday, and I have been woken up by a splash of water that is so cold the effect rain overnight.

Disappointed. But I tried to think differently. It would be nice if today I was on vacation, playing to my heart's content, while exercising in the morning. I feel like I haven't touched that habit in a long time.

"Mom, I'm just going to the city park, okay?" When mom nods, it means I've got permission.

I rushed to get the mountain bike my dad gave me when I was a painting champion. Carrying snacks I went to the city hall. Surabaya city park is now much different from ten years ago, when I was a child. At the age of twelve, I can finally enjoy a day where there is a safe area from the threat of air pollution.

Yes. Air pollution is my enemy. If only everything could go back to era long ago, the kingdom era. Where all vehicles are not available and only a horse-drawn cart is available. Pleasant and without the smoke that interferes with breathing and brings disease. But without the progress of civilization it is clear that it is not a life. Trying to enjoy what is currently there may be better while preserving nature.

Talking about protecting nature, I was looking at most of the gardens that had been repaired, improved, and beautified by Mrs. Risma. The best mayor of Asia, it turns out that he really cares about the environmental impact of construction and destruction here and there. Surabaya, which is known as the city of heroes, seems to have had quite a worrisome condition a few years ago. In addition to pollution from motor smoke, many factories were set up in this area. It's getting tighter. There is no cold air either.

The Surabaya city government is currently incessantly building all infrastructure that is friendly to its citizens. Starting from city parks, green open spaces, mangroves and several other interesting public facilities.

"I'm proud to be a citizen of Surabaya," I said to myself.

My vision was a little disturbed when some cleaners cleaned up the rest of the garbage on the side of the road. The trash of the former siblings who happened to have a meeting, I don't know what they were talking about at that time. I only had time to look at their eyes occasionally glancing around and while playing that glance they threw away the plastic wrap that was used for the ice they had consumed.

This is where I was moved, if only the yellow army didn't exist. Where did the trash go? River? Flood due to from human negligence. I took a deep breath, the smell of garbage still lingering in my nostrils.

"Busuuukkk", I rushed to get my bike and headed home because it was getting late.

Passing the behavior patterns of people in urban areas makes me miss the atmosphere village. Yes, I miss my grandparents. Not to mention the green rice fields with lush leaves and the sound of buffalo plowing. The view that I only get when I go home for Eid. I'm still grateful to live in a city, with developments that increasingly show the high quality of human resources in the country Indonesia.

From the end of the road to the housing where I live, it's very crowded. I thought there was a campaign or something, considering that this year is the year of the simultaneous local elections. There were father, brother, and mother were also there carrying a teapot filled with drinks.

"Edo, come here," my brother called.

I went to meet all the residents who were gathering while wearing shabby clothes and sweat soaking their bodies.

"Edo, you didn't help, did you? Where have you been?” asked my sister.

"Yeah, all your friends just helped dad clean the gutter." said father.

Apparently all residents of Darmo housing are holding mass community service. Almost all residents in the housing participated. It was fun to clean the house together while enjoying the dishes prepared by the mothers in their respective homes.

"After this, you come along, Edo, we'll both go to the park to enter the residential area", asked my father.

"What do we want there?" I asked.

“Later on, we will all provide free trash cans to be installed in the park area. Father bought it yesterday, we all tidy up the Perumnas garden together.

Father's brief explanation amazed me. It turns out that concern must be expressed with attitude, not just theorizing. It would have been better if I had also taken action by picking up used Popsicles trash that was thrown carelessly instead of rebuking the trash owner who was still a child. Yes, I'm an adult now.

"This is it ladies and gentlemen. As citizens who care about cleanliness and health, we are obliged to apply actions that reflect our concern. At present, the residents of our village are able to donate forty trash bins that were originally intended to be used in the Perumnas park. Now, with this action, our children will be able to imitate later.” said the head of the RT in my village.

I'm proud to live in this place. Residents who are quick to respond and the environment will always be clean because the residents care about waste. As a result, there doesn't seem to be any flooding in my area.

The village group walked to the park which was about two kilometers away. The trash can is installed permanently to avoid theft. Understandably the area of a city of this size must be prone to such things. I joined in watching and helped dad put nails in the corners of the trash can to attach to the boards. It would be nice if all residents were like this, socializing everywhere, building friendship with neighbors. Especially with positive activities. From now on I will be more sensitive and learn that all good things must be realized immediately. Starting from yourself is better, than just nagging and berating in your heart when someone's behavior is not in accordance with our wishes.

"Edo, why are you daydreaming? He said he wanted to help dad?", Dad's greeting woke me up.

I wrestled with the shovel and soil again while occasionally tidying up the plants we had unloaded earlier.
On the other side I saw my little brother, a toddler about his age, looking at me with a smile. He held the popsicle which was only a few drops left. I thought he was going to greet me then, but it turns out he just wanted to throw the popsicle pack in the trash can we just installed.

“Smart sister, I mumbled.

2. One Person One Tree
(Goddess Sustainable)

Something went wrong on my way to Jakarta. Along the road to the Pasteur toll gate, I saw palm trees in a cut condition, neatly arranged here and there, is this the newest Bandung specialty? Faintly, the sound of a chainsaw began to be heard. Only then did I realize. Trees are being cut down. From the diameter of the trunk, I could tell the trees were not children yesterday afternoon. Maybe he's older or my age. The palm tree was once a hallmark of Pasteur Street, but not anymore. At least since that day.

Pasteur's hallmarks today are flyovers, Giant, BTC, Grand Aquila and incredible traffic jams. This is not the first time that large-scale felling of large trees has been carried out in our city. A thousand jengkol seeds were planted as a sign of protest when the giant trees on Jalan Prabudimuntur were cut down. The Holy Path that was once shady is now barren. We scream at the same time helpless. Shouldn't there be a price to be paid for the development and prosperity of Bandung? For the sake of its growing population? For the sake of a vehicle that continues to explode? For the foreign license plates that litter the streets every weekend? Unlike some of its residents, the tree will not protest even if hundreds of years of its life are ended within a week.

It's definitely easier to cut down a tree than to gag people's mouths. A legendary Bandung architect once said, it is better for him to rack his brain to design according to natural conditions than to cut down just one tree, because buildings can be built and torn down in an instant, but trees take decades to grow together big. Unfortunately, the development of this city was not carried out with the same understanding.

These city leaders and planners forgot, the measure of a city's success is not sudden and seasonal prosperity, but a long and installment effort so that this city has a lifetime of sustainability as a decent and healthy place to live the occupants. Bandung once complained about a shortage of 650,000 trees, but in his hand he held a chainsaw that kept cutting down. Isn't this weird? Not surprisingly, the people are increasingly arbitrarily, the important thing is to trade and prosper. Isn't that the example they got? The important thing is that the project is 'wet' and the pocket is getting thicker. Where green projects have money, they even spend money. Better to build a mall or trade center ACC. Being a metropolis as if the sole choice. We can't stop for a moment and think, is there? identity another, perhaps better and wiser, than just being a new metropolis? I believe that change can be made from home, without having to wait for anyone. If we believe and are concerned about Bandung's lack of trees, do something. We can start with the One Man One Tree Movement.

Count the number of residents in your house and plant that many trees. The absence of a yard is not a problem, we can use pots, used buckets, etc. Those who have more land can plant more as well. Think of it as your good deed for those who can't or don't want to plant. Message the moral is simple, we are responsible for each other's oxygen supply. If this city government can't give us proper city lungs, can't build without cutting down trees, let's enrich our oxygen by planting our own.

Teach this to our children. Cultivate their sentiment on green life. Not only can kittens make cute pets, they can also have pet trees that will continue to accompany them until they become parents. My mother-in-law had that dream. In front of the house we just lived in, he planted dozens of coffee plants. He hopes that his grandson will one day see the beauty of the coffee tree, with or without him. His simple sentiments have not only helped regenerate the arid Ligar Hills, he has also made a memory hallmark, between him and his grandson, through the coffee tree. This city could be amnesiac. For the sake of his new (and unbeautiful) face, Bandung disconnected from the hundreds of trees that hold countless memories. This city can be arid. The number of parks can be counted on the fingers, the conditions are not interesting either. But those who live in this city can choose to wake up and not join the amnesia. Their hearts can be kept from becoming barren.

Our house can still be filled with trees and various plants. Tomorrow, or the day after, who knows? Bandung has not only received 650,000 new trees, but also millions of trees from its citizens who do not choose to remain silent.
