Duha prayer is a sunnah prayer that is done at the time of dhuha, which is the beginning of the afternoon. Duha prayer has many virtues and great rewards from Allah Ta'ala. The time of implementation is when the sun rises as high as a spear until before the zawal, that is, when the sun is perpendicular. Or about eight in the morning to eleven.

The Duha sunnah prayer is performed or performed after the Fajr prayer. Fajr prayer is performed before sunrise or before dawn. While the Duha prayer is done after dawn or after the sun rises until the time of dhuhur comes.

Duha sunnah prayer is one of the sunnah prayers that is highly recommended by the Prophet. This sunnah prayer is recommended to be performed by Muslims at the time of dhuha.

Called Duha prayer because the sunnah prayer is done at the time of Duha. Dhuha time is the time when the sun begins to rise approximately 7 cubits from sunrise (around 07:00 am) to the time of dhuhur (around 12:00 noon).

Number of Rakaats of Duha Prayer

Rasulullah said:

َمَنْ صَلَّى الضُّحٰى اِثْنَتٰى عَشَرَةَ رَكْعَةً بَنَى اللهُ لَهُ قَصْرًا فِى الْجَنَّةِ

Meaning:

"Whoever performs the Duha prayer twelve cycles, Allah will make for him a palace in heaven" (H.R. Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah).

From the hadith above, it is explained that the number of rak'ahs for the Duha prayer is 12 cycles. However, the 12 rak'ahs are the maximum number of the dhuha prayer cycles.

This 12 rakaat in the process can be done with every 2 rakaat ending with greetings. It can also be done directly 4 rakaat with the initial tasyahud in the second rakaat, and the final tasyahud in the fourth rakaat then ending with greetings.

The minimum number of rak'ahs for the Dhuha sunnah prayer is 2 cycles and the maximum is 12 cycles.

"Ushollii Sunnatadh Dhuha Rok'ataini Mustaqbilal Qiblati Adaa'an Lillaahi Ta'aalaa."

Dhuha Prayer Procedures

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ الضُّحَآءَ ضُحَاءُكَ وَالْبَهَاءَ بَهَاءُكَ وَالْجَمَالَ جَمَالُكَ وَالْقُوَّةَ قُوَّتُكَ وَالْقُدْرَةَ قُدْرَتُكَ وَالْعِصْمَةَ عِصْمَتُكَ
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ كَانَ رِزْقِى فِى السَّمَآءِ فَأَنْزِلْهُ وَاِنْ كَانَ فِى اْلاَرْضِ فَأَخْرِجْهُ وَاِنْ كَانَ مُعَسَّرًا فَيَسِّرْهُ وَاِنْ كَانَ حَرَامًا فَطَهِّرْهُ وَاِنْ كَانَ بَعِيْدًا فَقَرِّبْهُ بِحَقِّ ضُحَاءِكَ وَبَهَاءِكَ وَجَمَالِكَ وَقُوَّتِكَ وَقُدْرَتِكَ آتِنِىْ مَآاَتَيْتَ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ

"Allahumma innad-duhaa'a duhaa'uka wal bahaa'a bahaa'auka wal-jamaala jamaaluka wal-quwwata quwwatuka wal-qudrota qudratuka wal-'ismata 'ismatuka."

"Allaahumma in kaana rizqii fis-samaa'i fa anzilhu, wa in kaana fil-ardi fa akhrijhu, wa in kaana mu'assiran fa yassirhu, wa in kaana haraaman fa tahhirhu wa in kaana ba'iidan fa qarribhu bi haqqi duhaa'ika wa bahaa'ika wa jamaalika wa quwwatika wa qudratika, aatinii maa aataita 'ibaadakash-shalihiin."

Meaning :

"O Allah, indeed Duha time is Your Duha time, greatness is Your majesty, beauty is Your beauty, strength is Your strength, guard is Your guard"

"O Allah, if my sustenance is in the sky, then send it down; if it is in the earth, take it out; if it is difficult, make it easy, if it is unlawful. Purify it, if it is far, bring it closer to the truth of Your dhuha, Your power (O my Lord), bring to me what You have brought to Your servants. pious"

Benefits of Duha Prayer

• Duha prayer as an eraser of sins

According to the words of Raulullah:

"Whoever performs the Duha prayer and is able to keep it at all times, Allah will forgive his sins. Even if his sins are as many as foam in the sea." (HR. Tirmidhi from Abu Dawud Ra)

• Duha prayer as the will of the Prophet

From Abu Hurairah Ra said:

"My beloved Messenger of Allah has ordered me to fast for three days every month, and two rak'ahs of the Duha prayer, and the Witr prayer before going to bed." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim).

• Dhuha prayer two rakaat instead of tasbih, tahmid and tahlil

Rasulullah said:

"Every morning there is an obligation for each joint to give charity. Every tasbih is a charity, every tahlil is a charity, every tahmid is a charity, every takbir is a charity, every advocating the goodness of alms, each preventing what is evil in charity and it is enough to replace all of it with two rak'ahs Duha prayer". (HR Muslim)

• Two rak'ahs of dhuha are worth 360 alms

According to the hadith of the Prophet:

"In the human body there are 360 ​​vertebrae, he is required to give charity for each of them. The companions asked: Who is strong enough to do that, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Sputum that is in the mosque and then covered with earth or removed an obstacle from the middle of the road is charity. Or if you can't afford it, it is enough to replace it by doing two rak'ahs of the Duha prayer." (Narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud)
