When the Kaaba was about to be destroyed, Allah SWT sent the Ababil bird to carry the Sijjil pebble with its beak. The pebbles were dropped right on the heads of each of the elephant troops until they penetrated their bodies to death.

This event is enshrined in the Qur'an surah Al-Fiil verses 1-5. (Surah 105:1-5). This elephant army was crushed to get a torment from Allah SWT.
