Elements of Classified Ads in Indonesian

On the previous occasion, we have briefly reviewed about ad text related to the characteristics, structure, and rules of the language. On this occasion, we will briefly review about classified ads related to the elements contained therein. However, before we move on to reviewing the elements of classified ads in Indonesian, it's a good idea to refresh our memory about the meaning of advertising.

According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary, what is meant by advertising is news orders to encourage, persuade the general public to be interested in the goods and services offered. Advertising is also defined as notification to the public about goods or services being sold, displayed in the mass media (letter newspapers and magazines) or in public places. A more complete definition of advertising is put forward by the Indonesian Advertising Council, which states that advertising is a form of advertising communication about the product and/or brand to the target audience, so that they provide responses that are in accordance with the advertiser's objectives. Based on this understanding, advertising is intended to communicate business information to potential customers or customers. Usually, advertisements provide information

information regarding advertising firms, product quality, where advertised products are available, and so on.

Definition

There are several types of ads, one of which is classified ads. What is meant by classified ads according to the Ministry of National Education or Ministry of Education and Culture (2008, 2017) are advertisements whose installation is in the form of rows or advertisements consisting of only a few rows in a column. Classified ads can be identified from some of its characteristics are arranged in a row in a rectangular box with a minimum of two lines and a maximum of 10 lines.

The text that is presented is very limited. In a sense, there are no pictures or illustrations in this ad. However, like ad text in general, classified ads also contain statements in the form of facts and opinions. Fact is an undeniable fact. While opinion refers to something that is not necessarily true and is usually subjective.

In addition, many texts in classified ads are shortened due to the lack of space given. For example,

Although classified ads contain abbreviations, the information presented must still be complete so that readers can easily understand the advertisements offered.

Usually, classified ads are used by individuals and small companies. In oral presentation, we can hear advertisements through radio and television. Especially advertisements on television or advertisements on internet pages, advertisements are a combination of text oral, written, and motion. These forms of advertising, of course, have their own characteristics in their presentation patterns. The ones that are usually offered through classified ads include goods; services; job or career vacancies; property such as apartment, house, land, or business space; automotive; loss; and others.

Because classified ads present a short offer, an advertiser must have the ability to write classified ads. This ability includes mastery of the elements of classified ads that must be met, such as what is offered, the specifications of the goods to be purchased offered, the condition of the goods offered, the price of the goods offered, the place or location of the goods, as well as the telephone number that can be used contacted. Here is a brief review.

1. What's on offer

Like ad text in general, classified ads must also contain what is offered to potential buyers such as goods; services; job or career vacancies; property such as apartment, house, land, or business space; automotive; loss, and so on. Referring to Advertising Ethics Indonesia (2014), property products can only be advertised if the advertiser has obtained legal rights to its ownership, and has all the necessary official permits. This also applies to automotive products.

2. Specifications of goods or services offered

In addition to containing what is offered to the public, classified ads must also contain specifications for the goods or services offered. This is intended so that the audience really knows and understands the goods or services they buy and are in accordance with what is needed. If these specifications are not listed, it is feared that it will lead to fraud.

3. The condition of the goods or services offered

Products offered through classified ads must also contain the condition of the goods or services offered such as 'new, smooth, new, damaged, slightly scratched, and so on. The condition of the goods or services being sold is very important for prospective buyers to know because it is related to the nominal amount paid later. If the price offered does not match the condition of the goods, it is feared that it will lead to fraud.

4. Price

An advertiser must also include the price of goods or services offered, especially for goods sold or rented such as cars or houses. What must be considered regarding the price is that the price of an item or service listed is not allowed to mislead the public. If this is done, advertisers actually have violated advertising ethics.

5. Location

Another element that must be presented in a classified ad is in the form of information about the location of the goods or services, such as property or automotive or the location where other products are sold. Usually, we often see this in classified ads that offer properties such as land, offices, houses or apartments. The location of the goods offered is generally related to the price offered. The more elite or strategic the location of a property is considered, the more expensive the price will be.

6. Required position

Classified ads must also contain the position or party needed. In job vacancies, this is usually stated. For example,

7. Education requirements

In the type of job vacancy classifieds, in addition to containing the required position, it also contains information about educational requirements, such as SMA or SMK, D3, S1 and so on. This requirement is written without giving any indication of SARA discrimination unless it specifically includes the reasons for the need for certain SARA.

8. Other terms

Other information that is often presented in job vacancies classifieds is the other requirements that must be met generally refers to the personality, competencies or skills that prospective seekers must possess dimiliki work. For example, honest, thorough, like to work hard, have SIM A/C, master Ms Office, master language foreign, and so on.

9. Address or telephone number that can be contacted

In the types of advertisements for offers of goods or services as well as advertisements for requests (job vacancies), the address or telephone number that can be contacted or the address for which the application is addressed is usually stated. This is very important in order to make it easier for potential buyers to contact the bidder or make it easier for job seekers to send their applications.

10. Ad code from the editor

This ad code is usually used by editors for editorial administration purposes. In his presentation on media mass, this ad code often doesn't load.
