The Legend of Salatiga
One day in the Padanaran area, there lived a Ki Ageng who was known as the regent of the area. Ki Ageng is known as a Padanaran leader who is famous for being greedy and always oppressing his people. He always oppresses his people by giving high tax rates for his people, so that the people are distraught to pay the tax rates.
One day, Ki Ageng met a grass cutter who brought his scythe grass. With his arrogance, Ki Ageng asked the grass cutter from the grass cutter. Initially, the grasshopper refused Ki Ageng's request. However, Ki Ageng kept on persuading and instead lured the grasshopper a number of the grasshoppers to give up his grass.

"Please forgive my mistake, Ki Sunan," said Ki Ageng.
"Okay, I forgive you. However, as a punishment, you must follow me wandering and leave all your possessions, "said Sunan Kalijaga to Ki Ageng.
Ki Ageng also followed the obstacle of Sang Sunan Kalijaga to join the wandering. Unbeknownst to Sunan Kalijaga and Ki Ageng, Ki Ageng's wife apparently followed the two of them to go wandering. Unfortunately, wife from Ki Ageng actually brought a stick containing gold and diamonds.
On the way, Sunan Kalijaga and Ki Ageng were intercepted by a group of robbers who wanted to plunder their property. However, calmly, Sunan Kalijaga said, "If you want to rob, rob the woman who is walking behind us. He carried a wand filled with diamonds and gold." The woman referred to by Sunan Kalijaga is none other than the wife of Ki Ageng. Apparently, Sunan Kalijaga had known what Ki Ageng's wife had done through his inner eye.
Without waiting long, the robbers immediately approached Ki Ageng's wife and snatched the stick she was carrying. Ki Ageng's wife was powerless to resist and in the end she had to give up her stick being snatched by the robbers.
Immediately, Ki Ageng's wife cried and ran to where her husband and Sunan Kalijaga were. There, he told what he had experienced. Hearing this, Sunan Kalijaga exclaimed, "what you have experienced is your fault. And for that reason, I will name this place by the name of Salah Tiga. Because, here there are three parties who have made a mistake, namely you, your husband, and the robbers. In the future, this place will become a bustling city.”
Since then, the place has the name Salah Tiga which later became Salatiga. And according to the words of the Sunan Kalijaga, the place became a bustling city.
