Phrases are one of the elements that form whole sentences that we often find in discourse or writing languageIndonesia. While an adjective is a word that is used to express a trait or condition of a noun (noun). Adjective Phrase is a combination of two or more adjectives or circumstances, where one of the words from the combination serves to explain word another which is the essence of the nature or state. According to Verhaar (2001:360) the core element of the adjective phrase is the superior constituent, while the pewatas element is called the subordinate constituent.

Adjective phrases are divided into 3 types, namely as follows:

  • Attributive Adjective Phrases

That is, a phrase consisting of from the main element (adjective) and the element being explained (noun). In this phrase, the adjective usually describes the noun it follows. For example: little girl, old chair, round table, black hat.
