In language Indonesia has many types of sentences. Some of them are active and passive sentences, direct and indirect sentences, standard and non-standard sentences with examples, singular and compound sentences. Single sentence is sentence which has only one occurrence, activity or one event only. Characteristics of a single sentence, consists of from one subject, one predicate, one object and one description (S-P-O-K) and are not connected by conjunction. Based on the predicate category, a single sentence is divided into 5 parts, namely:

1. Verbal predicate sentence or verb

Single sentences with the predicate as a verb, are divided into 3 types, namely:

  • An intransitive sentence means that it has no object and is not complete. Example:
    • Nia is studying
    • sleeping mom
    • Spinning wheel
  • Etransitive sentence, meaning that this sentence has an object but is not complete. Example:
    • He walks on the sidewalk
    • Santi eats fried food
    • Juan watching television
  • A dwitransitive sentence, meaning that it has an object and a complement. Example:

    • I study in the room with my sister
    • Mr. Adi is driving the car to the city
    • Soni sings on stage

2. Sentences with adjectives or word nature

Example:

  • My eyes are sore
  • The wall paint is still wet
  • His heart is good

3. Nominal predicate sentence or noun

Example:

  • Andi is a pilot
  • The computer is made in America
  • He is a supermarket employee

4. Numerical predicate sentence or number word

Example:

  • There are five houses
  • Andi's ball is only one
  • There are three absorption holes

5. Sentences with prepositional phrases or prepositions with place phrases

Example:

  • Mika in class
  • The fruit in the basket
  • He went to the classroom
