Language has been used for hundreds of years as a tool communication between humans and one another. Over time, the vocabulary of a language increasing too. So is Indonesian. This increase in vocabulary is also influenced by foreign languages which are widely absorbed in Indonesian. A word in Indonesian can have many meanings if applied in different sentence contexts. There are also words that have special meanings in certain fields. Then there are words which when combined have a vague meaning. Word Meaning
The word in the KBBI is defined as the smallest unit of language that can stand alone. Words are the embodiment of feelings and thoughts that are poured through language. As the embodiment of feelings and thoughts, the word has a certain meaning or understanding. The meaning of a word is usually more than one. Amount types of meaning shift make a word can have a different meaning if the context of the sentence changes.
Types of word meaning and example
Until now there has been no clear division of the types of word meanings. However, many experts have divided the meaning of the word into several types. One of them is Abdul Chaer. Abdul Chaer classified the meaning of words into 13 types, namely:

- grammatical meaning

Meaning of Terms
The terms in the KBBI are defined as words or combinations of words that indicate the meaning of concepts, processes, circumstances, or characteristics in certain fields. From the above definition, it can be concluded that the term is different from the word. Words can have different meanings if the context changes. While the term has a fixed or special meaning in a particular field.
Terms are divided into two types, namely special terms and general terms. Definition and examples from These two types of terms are as follows:
- Specific terms are words whose usage and meaning are limited in a particular field. For example: appendectomy, kurtosis, bipatride, and Pleistocene.
- General terms are words that are elements of common language. For example: taqwa, budget, judgment, power, and marriage.
The term in Indonesian comes from the vocabulary of the Indonesian language Indonesia, cognate and foreign languages.
1. Indonesian Vocabulary
Terms can be formed from Indonesian vocabulary if they meet the following conditions:
- the most appropriate word, for example customs - excise - tax.

- general words that are given new meanings, for example sensitive - sensitive to light.
2. Cognate Language
Terms can be formed from cognate/regional languages if they meet the following conditions:

- shorter than the Indonesian language, for example the terms self-awareness, flexibility, clothing and food.
3. Foreign language
Indonesian language absorbs many foreign languages. This foreign language can be considered to form a new term if it meets the following requirements:
- more suitable with the connotation, for example professional, criticism, criticism, amateur
- shorter than the original translation in Indonesian, for example studies, diplomacy, documents
- ease of communication between languages, for example inflation, stock exchange, satellite

Expression
An expression or often called an idiom, is a combination of words that have a new meaning that is different from the words that compose it. Phrases are made up of two or more words. If it is written without the context of the accompanying sentence, then there are two possible meanings, namely the actual meaning (denotative meaning) and the figurative meaning.
