Argument Paragraphs and Examples
Paragraph comes from the Greek 'paragraphos' which means a type of writing that has a purpose and contains an idea or topic idea. A paragraph consists of a collection of several sentences containing information from the author to convey to the reader.
In language Indonesia has several type of paragraph type, such as deductive paragraphs, inductive paragraphs, description paragraph, argumentative paragraph, narrative paragraph, and others. This time we will discuss about argumentative paragraphs along with examples. We often encounter argumentative paragraphs in articles, essays, or other discourses. Argumentation paragraphs are used in scientific and non-scientific writings. Definition of Argumentative Paragraph
What exactly is an argumentative paragraph? An argumentative paragraph is a paragraph that expresses an opinion (argument) and its reasons. This is done to strengthen the opinion expressed in the

Types of Argumentative Paragraphs
Argument paragraphs are divided into two types, namely cause-effect argumentation paragraphs and cause-effect argumentation paragraphs. Here's the explanation:
Cause-and-effect argumentation paragraphs
This paragraph begins with an opinion about the cause of the emergence of a phenomenon / problem, it can also be accompanied by: data factual then at the end sentence directed to general conclusions that are the result of these causes.
Example 1:
New year is almost here. The new year is the time that every family looks forward to spending time on vacation together. The turn of the year which is close to the Christmas day, which is December 25 and also the semester holidays, makes the holiday atmosphere even more lively and festive. Every family will definitely prepare their vacation plans from far in advance. Most people will choose to use their personal vehicle for traveling. This results in traffic flow during the holiday period becoming increasingly congested. As a result, not infrequently due to congestion caused, travel time becomes very long.
Example 2:
Lely intends to lose weight. Ideal body weight can be calculated by the formula BMI (Body Mass Index) with a ratio of weight and height. He changed his diet to follow the principles of the vege diet, namely by consuming only fruits and vegetables without carbohydrates and protein. That diet really is efficient to lose weight fast. However, according to the nutritional needs of the body it is not quite right. The body also needs carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the process of formation energy. According to WHO, the disease with the highest number in each country is heart disease. The cause of heart disease is an unhealthy lifestyle such as eating fatty foods, drinking coffee every day, rarely exercising, and liking fast food. This results in the accumulation of fat in the blood vessels and increases the work of the heart. As a result, the heart fails to work and can result in death.
Cause-and-effect argumentation paragraphs
This paragraph begins with an explanation of the consequences that occur so that a phenomenon/problem appears and ends with an explanation of what is the cause of the effect. Each presentation is accompanied by factual data or data that supports the author's opinion.
Example 1:
Universitas Indonesia is the best university in the worldIndonesia. Based on the order of the best universities in Indonesia, the University of Indonesia ranks first. This is due to the many outstanding achievements achieved by the students in various fields, both events national and international. Lecturers who are clever and extraordinary become the teaching team that play a role in shaping the quality of their students. Example 2:
The West Jakarta area was inundated by knee-deep floods. Many houses were flooded. Activity residents in the area are also hampered. Schools are closed. Many motorized vehicles cannot operate due to flooding. According to various media The masses stated that the flooding that occurred was caused by rainfall rain tall one. Example 3:
Earth's atmosphere is getting thinner. The ozone layer in some areas is even gone.
