Understanding Core Sentences
Core sentences are also known as simple sentences. Core sentences usually only consist of a subject and a predicate. Although there are at least two elements, namely the subject and the predicate, the main sentence still has meaning. Some sentence elements that are allowed in the main sentence are subject, predicate, object, and complement.
The subject is the doer of the verb (predicate). The subject is usually a person, or a noun. A predicate is a verb or verb that is
activity subject. Subject and predicate must be in a sentence. Another sentence element that is allowed in the main sentence is the object. Objects are nouns that are related to the subject and predicate. While the complement is a word that serves to emphasize the predicate. Therefore the complement is located behind the predicate. Predicates are different from objects. Objects can act as subjects, while complements cannot act as subjects.Characteristics of Core Sentences
