Examples of Narrative Poetry in Indonesian
Previously, we have seen some examples of types of poetry existing ones, such as example of epigram poetry, example of ballad poetry, hymn poetry example, examples of romantic poetry, example of elegy poetry, and example of ode poetry. The meaning of narrative poetry itself is defined as poetry that contains: story in which there are characters and a chronology of events like a narrative paragraph. The difference is, narrative poetry is delivered in the form of lines or stanzas per stanza, while narrative paragraphs are delivered in the form of paragraph or paragraph.

The Death of the Boxing Champion¹

Law of the gods
Don't give a name
Hear the story
Parent's story
I pass it on to the readers
All over the country he is famous champion
The champion who always wins
And people just give up
Hear all the stories
No one dares
No one wants
Argue word-said
In shops
When drinking palm wine fiercely
Besides being a champion, he is also a hunter
If not deer, wild boar are the prey
Where is the champion, also the hunter
Good at dancing
Make beautiful carvings
And strum the harp.. .
He likes to get drunk
And when he curses
Nothing is wrong
But from all the victims
His wife suffered the most

Evening Meeting²

After drinking the moon sap of the first day
I wander aimlessly in the forest.
Then the smell of gandasuli stunned me,
standing stiff in the middle of the thicket,
stop the singing of the nocturnal insects.
Fixed like the Gale-Gale
Without thoughts and feelings.
Many problems come together,
without cause and effect.
Despair enveloped me.
Like fog blocking the view.
That too is meaningless.
Without explanation. No relationship.
The smell of gandasuli filled the lungs.
Flooding into the veins.
Even then it becomes meat.
Oh, God, did I die standing up?
Moonlight and stars
fell into trees that were just trees.
The night insects returned to sound just a sound.
No, nothing. No, nothing.
No problem. It doesn't matter.
What's the difference between a second and a century.
Suddenly
from the darkness of the grove of golden teak trees
spreads the smell of fragrant tobacco.
Then I saw a flash of glasses.
Then a flash of a smile with white teeth.
And then emerged from the darkness
a dashing body figure with a black hat
and a dark brown evening coat.
My father, your majesty appeared unexpectedly!
What does your presence mean?
What is the boundary between life and death
thinned by the moonlight?
I didn't expect this meeting.
I let you rest
on your deathbed.
Now, what are you going to say?
Hopeless. Without desire.
I stood rooted to the earth.
Am I actually dead?
And now it becomes a gandasuli?
