Rubber Forest*
By: Joko Pinurbo

-in memoriam, Sukabumi

Scattered rubber leaves.
Scattered across the expanse of time.

The sound of monkeys on the branches.
The sound of bats dispels the evening.

On the tops of the grass locusts jump.
Jumping in the bushes of longing.

And a circular path
steep memories.

Just before the sun goes away
I still hear the pounding of the drum.

Want To Be Loved**
By: Candra Malik

When alone, who is with you?
Is it lonely, or is it Missing?

When we are together, how do you feel?
Is it happy or sad?

Which of us is lying?
Who keeps the bullshit?

Shouldn't humans have aspirations?
Shouldn't humans want to be loved?

Eye Sign***
By: Candra Malik

To me, you are a sign.
Since meeting, real forever.

To me, you are the light.
From your twinkle, my gaze begins.

To me, you are vision.
In every moment, in every memory.

For me, you are the direction to look.
In your eyes, my eyes die.

Midnight
By: Joko Pinurbo

The storm rumbles in your bedroom.
Rain roar, then lightning, thunder,
and the blasts of time from your chest.

After that everything subsided.
Season settles in the window.
Just dry twigs and leaves
scattered on the bed.

It was midnight.
You cry. But bed
hear your voice as a song.

your coughing lumps
settles in milk cans.

It's still in the fridge
gasping for your breath
soaked in frozen wines.

It's still in the fridge
the remnants of your pain
imprint on wilted flesh.

It's still in the fridge
your secret whispers
stored in the bottles of time.
