Elements of Poetry in Indonesian

According to the Great Dictionary of Languages Indonesia Online, poetry or also known as rhyme is a variety of literature whose language is bound by rhythm, dimension, rhyme, and the arrangement of lines and stanzas. Poetry is also defined as a composition in a language whose form is carefully selected and arranged so that sharpens people's awareness of experiences and evokes specific responses through the arrangement of sounds, rhythms, and sounds special meaning.

2. Extrinsic Element

Extrinsic elements of poetry are elements that are outside the poem and affect the presence of poetry as a work of art. The extrinsic elements of poetry include historical, psychological, philosophical, and religious aspects.

• Historical aspect refers to historical elements or ideas contained in poetry.
• Psychological aspects refers to the psychological aspects of the author contained in the poem.
• Philosophical aspects. Some scholars state that philosophy is closely related to poetry or literary works as a whole and some other experts state that philosophy and literary works in this case poetry are not related to each other.
• Religious aspect Poetry refers to a common theme raised in poetry by the author.
