Thousands of Spectators Gather to Welcome “World Ethnic Festival”
Purwakarta, (PR).- The highlight of the 48th Anniversary of Purwakarta Regency was lively, Saturday (27/8/2017) night. Thousands of people flocked to the side of the road to take part in the event titled "World Ethnic Festival".
This event was filled with ethnic and cultural parades from the Veteran Street Renewal Park to the Padjadjaran Pesanggrahan Park on Mr Dr usumaatmadja Street, Purwakarta. No less than 10 countries as representatives from various continents also enlivened the event which closed all the anniversary activities of the district which is famous for the Taman Sri Baduga Fountain.
As the opening ceremony, Ki Jaga Raksa's golden carriage looked out of the yard and out of the Purwakarta District Health Office on Jalan Veteran. The carriage that once carried the heirloom flag from Monas to the Palace on the Independence Day commemoration was seen being pulled by four horses.
Purwakarta Regent Dedi Mulyadi in his speech said that humans can never be separated from ethnic elements. It is precisely because of the ethnic element that humans can survive because from it the values of culture and civilization are built.
“That ethnic identity humanity, from which humans build culture and civilization. Thus, without anything ethnic in nature, we are not fully human," word Dedi.
A total of 60 horses then started moving towards the Padjadjaran Pesanggrahan Park (Purwakarta Square) which was greeted by the enthusiasm of thousands of residents. Arriving at the park which also presents a Sundanese ethnic feel because there are whistle (place for storing harvested rice) and ranggon (Bamboo huts where farmers repel rice pests by pulling ropes attached to cans or plastics), all delegates demonstrated their skills one by one.
The Egyptian delegation presented the art of Tanoura, a dance with Sufi nuances typical of the Middle East which was later adopted by Shaykh Jalaluddin Rumi as a sema dance. Mexican delegation puts on a signature show Tribe The Aztecs were "Tlanectli Tlacopan Gorenka." Meanwhile the New Zealand delegation performed a dance called “Pounamun.”
The delegation from the United States did not seem to want to lose their performance. They painstakingly performed an Indian dance called 'Houp'. Japan Performs with the art of “Nowandaiko”, while Russia performs the folk dance, “Folk Dancing”…
