Sprinkles of Spruce*
By: Chairil Anwar
the fir whistling far away
feels like it's going to be night
there are some branches in the fragile window
hit by the pent-up wind
I am now a person who can stand it
how long have you not been a child anymore
but there used to be something ingredient
which is not the basis of current calculations
life only delays defeat
more isolated from love lower school
and know, something is not said
before we finally give up

I
By: Chairil Anwar
If it's my time
'I want no one to seduce'
Neither do you
No need for that sedan
I'm a bitch
From the group wasted
Let the bullet pierce my skin
I'm still inflamed crashing
Wounded and I can carry it running
Run
Until the fairy pain disappears
And I would care less
I want to live another thousand years
March 1943

Triad of Beca Lights*
By: Isma Sawitri
triad of pedicab lamps
yes mustapha yes mustapha
triad of pedicab lamps
on the left and on the right
one with red glass
the other one is green
triad of pedicab lamps
carried swinging
the night drifts down the dew
yes mustapha let's go home
to the mosquito's nest to the fly's nest
to the nest of dreams
hat holder
yes mustapha –
cock crow in the morning

Pair of Beca Lights*
By: Sapardi Djoko Damono
For Isma Sawitri
there is a pair of beca lights singing softly at the mouth of the alley
midnight while the brother was asleep before
the drizzle subsides
they have to sing because when it's quiet suddenly
The perfect flower arrived this afternoon from the coffin
passing it will suddenly smell and infiltrate
Beca brother's pores then flow through his blood
so he feels he is imprisoned in a cave
seduced by a thousand angels who took him to Suralaya
and hi goodbye world
