Characteristics of Facts and Opinion Sentences along with Examples

In a news or discourse there is a lot of information contained in it. However, not all of the information contained is a fact. Not infrequently news presenters or discourse writers include their opinions on something discussed. So, as readers, we must be able to distinguish between facts and opinions, so that the information obtained is not mixed between facts/reality with an opinion/opinion.

Definition 

According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), a fact is something that really exists and happens. Facts are often referred to as facts. Facts can be obtained through an observation of a particular object or event/event. A fact sentence is a sentence in which there is an actual and verifiable information.

As for opinion, according to the Big Dictionary Language Indonesia (KBBI), consists of 3 meanings, namely opinions, thoughts and convictions. Or it can be concluded that an opinion is an opinion, a person's thoughts that are not necessarily true because there is no/no proof of the truth. Opinion is the opposite / opposite of fact, and is often also referred to as opinion. Types of Sentences Fact

  1. General facts
    General fact sentences are fact sentences where the truth is valid forever or as long as possible era.
    Example: The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
  2. Special facts
    A special fact sentence is a fact sentence whose truth is only temporary or within a certain period of time.
    Example: Currently, Doni is in grade 3 of SMP Negeri 1 Semarang.

Types of Sentences Opinion

  1. Individual/individual opinion
    Individual/individual opinion sentences are opinion sentences whose opinions or ideas are expressed by one particular individual.
    Example: Looks like it will come down in the afternoon rain.
  2. General Opinion
    Sentence Public opinion is an opinion sentence whose opinion or idea is recognized by many people or everyone.
    Example: Frequent bathing at night is believed to cause rheumatic diseases.

Characteristics of Fact Sentences

  1. can be proven true
  2. contains data that is quantitative (in the form of numbers) and qualitative (in the form of a statement)
  3. have data accurate time, date, place and event
  4. collected from trusted sources
  5. is objective, i.e. actual data, not made up and equipped with object images
  6. usually can answer the question formula 5W + 1H
  7. states an event that is or has occurred and has occurred
  8. information comes from actual events

Characteristics of Opinion Sentences

  1. can't be proven
  2. subjective and usually accompanied by opinions, suggestions and descriptions that explain
  3. do not have a resource
  4. contains opinions about events that occurred
  5. shows events that are not certain to occur or will occur in the future
  6. are thoughts or opinions of a person or group
  7. The information submitted has no proof
  8. usually characterized by the use of word-words: maybe, it seems, maybe, should, should
