ASEAN History
ASEAN stands for Association of South East Asia Nations. ASEAN is also known as Perbara which stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. - Brunei Darussalam on January 7, 1984
- Vietnam July 28, 1995
- Myanmar 23 July 1997
- Laos July 23, 1997
- Cambodia December 16, 1998

ASEAN Key Principles
ASEAN's main principles are outlined as follows: Respect for the independence, equality, integrity and national identity of all countries the state has the right to resolve its national problems without any outside interference countries safely Refuse the use of force and violence promote effective cooperation between ASEAN members confirmed by five countries founder; Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand in Bangkok The process of establishing ASEAN was made in the signing of an agreement known as the “Bangkok Declaration”.
Those who signed the Bangkok Declaration were the foreign ministers at that time, namely Mr. Adam Malik (Indonesia), Narciso R. Ramos (Philippines), Tun Abdul Razak (Malaysia), S. Rajaratnam (Singapore), and ThanatKhoman (Thailand). On January 8, 1984, a week after achieving its independence, Brunei became a member of ASEAN.
11 years later, on July 28, 1995 to be exact. Laos and Myanmar became members two years later, on 23 July 1997. Although Cambodia is already a member of ASEAN along with Myanmar and Laos, Cambodia was forced to withdraw due to political problems within the country. However, two years later Cambodia re-entered into ASEAN on April 30, 1999. ASEAN LOGO The ASEAN logo carries the meaning of a stable, secure, united and dynamic ASEAN. There are 4 logo colors, namely blue, red, white and yellow. This color is the main color of the symbols of ASEAN countries.
The blue color symbolizes security and stability. Red stands for passion and dynamism while white shows sincerity and yellow symbolizes prosperity. The ten stalks of rice symbolize the ideals of the pioneers who formed ASEAN in Southeast Asia, namely to be united and friendly. The circle symbolizes the unity of ASEAN.

Meaning of the ASEAN Emblem
