Allah SWT's trials to the Prophet Ayyub a.s.
At first, Prophet Ayyub received a test from Allah with a decrease in his sustenance so that when he was previously rich, over time his wealth increasingly receded and he became poor too. However, this incident did not shake his faith because he always remembered that humans are born into the world does not have anything, then only then is Allah given sustenance and Allah is the one who gives riches. Wealth comes from Allah and returns to Allah too. Faith of Ayyub a.s. cannot be tempted by Satan, in accordance with what Allah explains in the Koran that humans cannot be tempted by Satan if they are faithful servants of Allah.
So Prophet Ayyub passed the test that Allah brought to him, Prophet Ayyub certainly received a great reward from Allah in the future. Then Allah SWT tested him again, namely his children, many of whom have now died. This test of death is very difficult for ordinary people, but for Prophet Ayyub a.s. that's not the case.
He remembered that Allah's treasures would return to Him, including himself. Believers are also tried with various trials, they accept them with patience and trust as explained by Allah in the Al-Qur'an surah Al-Baqarah (2) 155-156:
We try you with a little fear and hunger, lack of possessions, souls and fruits and give good news to the patient. (namely) people who, when they are faced with trials, say, "Indeed, we belong to Allah and to Him we will return."
This is how Prophet Ayyub a.s. he also passed this exam. He also received a double reward from Allah SWT for his patience.
Prophet Ayyub a.s. Suffering from Pain
After Prophet Ayyub was tested by poverty and death, then Allah brought a serious test in the form of an illness that lasted seven years, he did not complain about his illness. He continues to do all the deeds of worship to Allah SWT that he usually does to the best of his ability. The disease is a skin disease that is disgusting when people look at it.
His family, friends and friends have shunned him. It is his wife who is still loyal and is always by his side. His wife's name was Rahmah, a wife who was very loyal, obedient and had faith in Allah. Satan looked for another way by tempting Ayyub's faithful wife to leave her husband who was sick. Over time, his wife was tempted too, she was a bit reluctant when asked by her husband.
Prophet Ayyub apparently noticed his wife's changing behavior. Ayyub became angry with his wife and said, "If I recover, I will hit you a hundred times. ”
Allah's words in the Qur'an surah Shaad (38) verse 41:
"Remember when Ayyub called out to Allah, "O Allah, surely Satan is bothering me with hardship and torment. ”
The Prophet Ayyub said this because it was Satan who asked Allah to give Ayyub a severe trial. According to Satan's opinion, Ayyub believes in Allah because Ayyub lives in pleasure, has lots of possessions, has beautiful children and is healthy so he doesn't lack anything. If Ayyub had suffered, of course he would have disobeyed Allah, so Allah showed Ayyub's faith so that Satan lost and was helpless.
Prophet Ayyub a.s. Recovering From His Pain
Prophet Ayyub's prayer was answered by Allah SWT, as explained in the Al-Qur'an surah Al-Anbiyaa' (21) verses 83-84:
Remember the story of the Prophet Ayyub a.s. when he prayed to Allah, saying “O Allah! I have been stricken with poverty and you are the merciful of all merciful. ”
Then we granted his request and we removed the disease that befell him. We returned his family to him, we multiplied their number as a mercy from us as a warning to those who worship us.
Allah's words in the Qur'an surah Shaad (38) verses 42-43:
Allah said to him, “Place your feet on the ground and there will be a spring of water. That is cool water for bathing and drinking, then the disease will be cured."
We blessed him (by gathering his family) and (we added) to them as many as they were as a mercy from us and a warning for people of understanding."
That is the story of the Prophet Ayyub a.s. His illness was cured, his skin became white again, only with fresh water, because of Allah SWT's permission. If it is open to Allah's permission, the disease will not be cured even if it is treated by a specialist doctor.
Prophet Ayyub a.s. Will carry out his vows
Prophet Ayyub a.s. had promised himself with his words that if he recovered he would will hit his wife 100 times because his wife has been tempted by Satan (a bit reluctant to serve him in Sick ).
Apparently this vow is permitted by Allah SWT, as stated in the Al-Qur'an, Surah Shaad (38) verse 44:
Take a bundle of sticks in your hand, then beat your wife with it and do not break your oath. Indeed, we know that Ayyub was a patient person, he was the best of servants and repented a lot to Allah.
Thus, the Prophet Ayyub did not hit his wife 100 times, but the hundred sticks were tied together and hit only once as a promise. Ayyub's wife was a pious and good woman, she did this not because she had a bad character, but because she was tempted by Satan. Allah is forgiving and merciful.
