Definition of Land and Various Classifications (Complete)
In Indonesia there is a lot of land, but there is still more sea. So what are the various types of land? Below we will review it in full. Read the explanation below carefully.
Understanding Land
Land is the surface of the earth that is not covered by sea water. Land is also defined as a living place for most living creatures. The term land is used more often, then the term land is usually used with geographical boundaries.
The earth is circular with an uneven surface. The difference in height from the earth's surface occurs because there is the influence of endogenous energy, namely energy that comes from within the earth and exogenous energy, namely energy that comes from outside the earth.
Classification of Types of Land
According to the relief or height and low of the earth's surface, land is divided into several types, including:
Plateau
Plateau is a type of land with an earth's surface that is more than 500 m above sea level. Plateaus occur due to erosion and sedimentation processes. Erosion is the event of the erosion of solids due to transport by wind, water, ice, rain, the influence of gravity or due to living creatures.
Meanwhile, sedimentation is the process of depositing material that is transported by wind, water, ice or glaciers in a basin. The highlands often have cool temperatures and fertile soil.
A plateau region with a very wide area at the peak area, the plateau is called a plateau. Plateaus can form due to erosion, sedimentation, rising volcanoes, or due to lava extrusion. Examples of highlands in Indonesia include the Deccan Plateau, Gayo Plateau, Dieng Plateau, Malang Plateau.
Lowland
Lowland is a type of plain on the earth's surface which is in the form of a wide expanse of land with a height of approximately 200 m above sea level. This term is applied to any area that is not included in the highlands.
The air temperature in lowland areas is not as cold as in the highlands, but it is also not too hot, usually between 23-26 degrees Celsius.
The economic situation of people in the lowlands is generally more prosperous than those living and living in the highlands. Because of the weather, the lowlands have quite high rainfall. Examples of lowlands in Indonesia include the Surakarta lowlands, the Semarang lowlands, the Madiun lowlands and the Palembang lowlands.
Mountains and Mountains
A mountain is a type of land in the form of land that protrudes above the surrounding area. An area can be called a mountain if its height exceeds 610 meters.
When it reaches a certain height, a mountain can have more than one type of climate. Based on the old elementary school curriculum, the term mountain usually refers to volcanoes, therefore in general there are only two types of mountains, namely active mountains and passive mountains.
Meanwhile, mountains are rows made of geologically related mountains. Mountains are often formed due to the movement of tectonic plates through complex processes. Apart from Earth, mountains have also been found on many other planets in our solar system.
Hills and Hills
A hill is a type of land that has a higher ground surface than the surrounding land surface. The height of the hill is lower than the mountain or less than 600 meters. However, because there is no general definition for hills and mountains, some sources consider them to be mountains and vice versa.
Meanwhile, hills are a series of hills lined up in an area where the evidence is geologically connected.
Valley
A valley is a type of land that is lower than the surrounding surface. Often institutions are areas around mountains with long structures and flowed by rivers. Valleys can cover thousands of kilometers in area. In its development, which is influenced by various geographical phenomena, institutions can develop into canyons with steep cliffs.
Bluff)
Ravines are rock formations that rise vertically. Cliffs are often formed by erosion. Erosion is the event of the erosion of solids due to the transport of wind, water, ice, rain, the influence of gravity and the impact of living creatures.
Cliffs can be found in coastal areas, mountains and along rivers. Usually cliffs are formed from rocks that are resistant to weather changes.
Canyon
A canyon is a type of land that has a landform shape similar to a valley but has sides that are almost perpendicular to the ground surface. The condition of the canyon cliffs is very steep. Canyons are formed from institutions that are continuously eroded due to geographic phenomena
Rivers, Swamps, Lakes
Rivers, swamps and lakes are parts of land that can be covered by water.
