Understanding Sedimentation
Basically, sidementation is the final stage of an exogenous process, namely the process of deposition of materials eroded by transport media, whether by water, wind, sea waves or glaciers.
Impact
Some of the forms of the earth's surface that were formed as a result of the sidementation process are as follows:
- Riverbanks, that is highlands on the left and right of the river consisting of sand, gravel and mud.
- Delta, that is mud deposits at the mouth of a river where the river meets the sea.
- Buttono and Split. Buttono is deposits of sedimentary material that connect the mainland with small islands, while split is deposits of marine sedimentary material at the tip of the cape.
- Beach, that is coral debris on the beach caused by sea waves. Coral debris on the beach.
- Sand Dunes, or sand dunes ie sand dunes that occur as a result of sidementation by the wind.
- Horseshoe Lake (Oxbow lake) formed as a result of the sidementation process that occurs in the remaining curves of meander rivers.
Based on the place of deposition, sidementation can be divided into five, including:
1. Teristic sediment or alluvial sediments viz sidementation deposited on land or in wide flood plains.
2. Fluvial sediment that is Sediment is deposited at the bottom of the river, causing river shallowing.
3. Luminous sediment, that is sediment deposited in swamp areas.
4. Marine sediments, that is sediment deposited in the sea.
5. Lacustrine sediments, that is sediment deposited at the bottom of the lake.
