Pancasila as a Development Paradigm
Paradigm comes from the word paradigm (English) which means model or pattern. With a pattern or model, a feature, nature and character of science will be formed. As for development (development) is a process of change towards a better condition. In development there is a process of development, change, development, both in quantity and in quality.
The Indonesian state has become independent on August 17, 1945 after centuries of feeling the pain of being under the grip of colonialism. Independence was not obtained for free, but through a long struggle and enormous sacrifice.
This independence is not a final goal, but only as a golden bridge to realize the life you aspire to. For this reason, so that the ideals of the nation can be realized, independence must be utilized and filled with carrying out national development. Because without development, the desired form of life will not be achieved.
The problem is what kind of development model is adopted by the Indonesian nation in an effort to realize an idealized life? Since the Proclamation of Independence on August 17, 1945, the Indonesian nation has formally chosen the ideology of Pancasila.
Thus, Pancasila is a source of values for the Indonesian nation that provides deep inspiration think and act in realizing the ideal life, including in carrying out development. Pancasila in this case means the pattern or model of development carried out by the Indonesian people based on Pancasila. This means that the source of law, methods and ways of implementing the development of the Indonesian nation are based on Pancasila.
The National Aspirations of the Indonesian Nation
State ideology is the main pillar of national and state life, because ideology determines the direction and life of a nation. Likewise, the life of the Indonesian nation. The direction of life, ideals, and ways to realize the goals of the state are always based on the national ideology of Pancasila. The national ideals of the Indonesian nation have been formulated in the formation of the fourth paragraph of the 1945 Constitution, namely:
- To protect the entire Indonesian nation and all of Indonesia's bloodshed,
- promote the general welfare,
- educate the life of the nation, and
- participate in carrying out world order based on freedom, eternal peace, and social justice.
In an effort to realize these national ideals, the Indonesian nation carries out national development. Pancasila as the nation's ideology as well as a development paradigm. With Pancasila being the foundation of development, the direction and model of development as well as the goal of development. Pancasila as the goal of development, because the goal of national development is to realize a just and prosperous, material and spiritual society based on Pancasila.
This means, development is not only in the material field, but also in balance with spiritual development. Pancasila becomes a development orientation, so that the essence of national development is the development of the Indonesian people as a whole and the development of society as a whole.
