Get to Know the Anatomy and Physiology of Sporadic Kormophyta (Complete) – Before we explore material on the anatomy and physiology of Kormophyta with spores, we first describe the main characteristics of the anatomy and physiology of Kormophyta with spores.

Get to Know the Anatomy and Physiology of Sporadic Kormophyta (Complete)

The term Kormophyta is different from Thallophyta.

Kormophyta: kormo = kormus, which means the structure of roots, stems and leaves can be distinguished. For example: ferns, gymnosperms, and angiosperms.

⇒ Thallophyta: thallo = thallus, which means that the structure of roots, stems and leaves cannot be distinguished. For example: algae, moss = transition from Thallophyta to Kormophyta.

Anatomically, Kormophyta with spores is a term for ferns (Pteridophyta). Mosses are called transitional plants because anatomically they have characteristics close to Kormophyta, although they are still simple. Kormophyta already has its characteristics, namely vascular transport (xylem and phloem).

Mosses and ferns have a similar structure because both have stages of alternating generations (matagenesis), namely the sporophyte phase (producing spores) and the gametophyte phase (producing gametes or cells sex).

The anatomical structure of fern leaves can be divided into two based on their shape and function. The fil ending indicates a leaf.

Based on the shape:

  • Microfil = a leaf that has 1 leaf bone
  • Macrophile = leaves that have more than 1 leaf vein
  • Scale = does not have leaf bones

By function:

  • Sporophyll = producing spores (reproductive leaves)
  • Tropophyll = for photosynthesis

Anatomically, the body of a moss is still a thallus. However, in Bryopsida class mosses, their bodies have approached the characteristics of corm plants. Therefore, it is still very difficult to distinguish between roots, stems and leaves. Likewise with the vascular structure or vessels transport.

Rhizoid (Rhizo = root) which is owned by moss, is a moss root which functions to attach to the substrate and transport the substances needed to all parts of the body. However, mosses do not have carrier bundles like cormus plants.

This is a brief explanation about Get to Know the Anatomy and Physiology of Sporadic Kormophyta (Complete), hopefully can facilitate understanding and have benefits. Thank You.
