Assembled Map: Definition, Objectives and Working Standards
An assembly chart, or better known as an assembly map, is a graphical representation of the flow sequence of components and assemblies of parts or sub-assemblies to assemblies of a product. It will be seen that the assembly map shows a way that is easier to understand by looking at:
- These components will form a variety of a product.
- Process assembling drawings thoroughly every part.
- How to arrange the components that will become a single unit.
- Interrelationships between components with one another.
- Sequencing components by time to join them together.
- An overview of some of the initial components of various material flow patterns.
- How is the arrangement of the flow of components arranged into an assembled form.
Purpose of Working on Assembled Map
The purpose of the Assembly Chart is to show the relationship or compatibility between one component and another. So it can be described with various descriptions decomposed. In this case the assembly map can be used as an alternative teaching for amateurs to understand the sequence of a series that is difficult and complicated.
Workmanship Standard On Assembly Chart
According to Apple (1990), that the standard for an assembly chart workmanship, among others, is:
Draw a flat straight line starting from the circle to the left, then place a circle with a diameter of 6 millimeters at the end of the circle. Each component provides instructions in the form of a number, amount, name or so on that will be arranged in that component.
If you are working on an assembly or part, make a partial line and end with a circle with a diameter of 9 mm. The component that shows the line must be pulled to the left and ended with a diameter of 6 mm.
In a final product draw a circle with a diameter of 12mm as the final operating instructions by writing a description to the right of the circle.
Then check to make sure all components are listed in the product. Make a number or assembly instructions of the various components on the circle. As well as giving serial numbers starting from top to bottom of the components on the left that are listed.
The last assembly of the components is recorded, with a short vertical line drawing starting from the circle line with a size of 9 mm and above. Create a circle with a size of 12 mm indicating the operation of the assembly described in steps 2 and 3.
In circles indicating the various assemblies or sub-assembly components do not always indicate the navel path or the various paths. It's just that it can show various sequences of operations in accordance with a predetermined order. Which, when needed in each process, can immediately determine what must be done as an operator.
