Understanding News Text
News text is text that contains discussion about an event that occurred in the world which is spread through media such as radio, television, internet, websites or other media. The content of the news text is usually a fact, but not all facts can be made into news.
Characteristics of News Text
The characteristics of news texts include:
- Trustworthy (factual)
- Accepted in society
- Clear
- What is reported is something that actually happened, not the author's opinion or idea
- This is a rare event, not something that happens every day
- The language used is interesting and can captivate the reader's interest
- The data presented is complete, especially important data
- The time and place of the event are clear
- Easy to understand language
- It is objective in nature
- Sequential flow of events
- The sentences used are short, concise, clear
- The news source is valid and accountable
- The news title can represent the content of the news
