Humans As Individual Beings and Social Beings Why is that, humans are the most perfect creatures in this universe, because they have reason to think. The word human comes from the Sanskrit word "Manu" or from the Latin "Sens" which means to think or reason.
Humans As Individual Beings and Social Beings
What is meant by the individual is where he is able to stand alone or be responsible for himself. And it is said to be social because humans will interact with other humans for their life needs.
The Role of Humans as Living and Social Beings
Basically, humans are individual beings who have noble dignity. Therefore he will always try to realize the potential that exists in him while wanting to show who is better, both physically and spiritually.
Humans are also said to be social beings because they will need the help of others in living their lives. because basically humans also need to interact with other humans so that they are able to meet all needs his life. That's why humans are said to be Monodual Creatures.
Socially, humans are individual and social beings who have equal opportunities in life in society. This means that humans have the same rights and obligations in controlling something.
For example having a family, going to school, looking for work and various other activities including religion. But in reality each individual has a different place or in other words they do not have the same position.
Some of the factors that cause this to happen include:
- Economy, where conditions differ between individuals which causes some to be rich and some to be poor.
- Social, where each individual has a different social status, some become civil servants and some are laborers.
- Political, where there are those who become activists and there are those who are just ordinary people.
- Culture, where there are those who master certain cultures such as dance and martial arts and there are those who do not know it at all.
So from there you will see Social Stratification in the life of the community.
Dynamics of Social Interaction
Social interaction is a very important factor in social life, because it is a social relationship that is very dynamic and interactive, where everything is influenced by the reciprocal process of each individual, between groups and from individuals to groups man. Social interaction takes the form of accommodation, cooperation and competition.
For social interaction will occur when a person meets another person or more. Social interaction occurs in all situations and conditions, be it friendship or hostility. Not only that, social interaction can also occur only with words, attitudes, debates and even fights that cause physical contact though.
Social interaction can only take place from each individual when they have a reaction between each other. Social interaction is not possible if one individual makes a direct connection with something that has no effect on his nervous system as a result of the intended relationship.
Some of the features of Social Interaction are as follows:
- Having more than one perpetrator;
- The occurrence of a relationship or communication from each individual through social contact;
- There is a purpose of an interaction;
- There is a time dimension in the interaction.
Dilemma Between Individual Interests and Community Interests
Every human being who lives life will definitely experience a dilemma in making a decision in choosing which is more important between individual interests and the interests of society.
Included in the interests of the individual is a family or a particular group while what is meant by the interests of the community are the interests that concern the people or many people.
Each of these interests will never be separated from human life because humans are part of a social society.
Individualism view
The essence of Individualism is a free individual being. This is an understanding that views humans as whole individuals apart from other humans.
This view has the opinion that the interests of the individual must always take precedence over the interests of society. This understanding also produces Liberalism Ideology, while the principles of Liberalism are:
- Always more concerned with personal interests than the interests of society;
- Each individual gets complete freedom over himself;
- Free to compete for the sake of achieving their respective interests.
The freedom possessed by each individual makes the competition between them great, therefore this freedom is regulated in the application of law. So, thus justice will be created along with the free competition that occurs in social life for the sake of order in living together.
View of Socialism
This view is very different from the view of individualism because it is more concerned with the interests of society. According to this view, individual rights are basic rights that are lost. rights arising from membership in a group.
Socialism is an understanding that expects the creation of a peaceful, just and prosperous society from individual domination. Socialism emerged with the goal of public interest, especially those excluded by the system of liberalism, freedom, welfare and justice.
To achieve this, socialism views that individual rights must be placed within the framework of the wider community's interests. in radical socialism there is a way to achieve this, namely by eliminating the rights of ownership and control of the means of production by individuals.
