An open ideology is an ideology that has deep and touching values. In addition, it has high relevance/suitability with the development of society, and is able to answer various problems and challenges of modern life. In order for an ideology to become an open ideology capable of maintaining relevance to the times, it needs the following three dimensions.
Reality Dimension
In the reality dimension, that the values contained in the ideology come from values that actually live in society.
Idealism Dimension
In the dimension of idealism, that ideology needs to contain the ideals to be achieved in various social, national and state life. Through the ideals or ideals contained in the ideology that is lived, the community or nation knows which way they should build their lives towards their goals.
Flexibility Dimension
The dimension of flexibility, that open ideology has a high suitability for the dynamics of community development. In addition, ideology must also stimulate society to develop the basic values contained in ideology to respond to the challenges of the times.
Pancasila as the ideology of the Indonesian nation fulfills these three dimensions. Here Pancasila fulfills the dimension of reality because the values contained therein originate from the spirit, personality and values of the Indonesian people.
Pancasila fulfills the dimension of idealism because Pancasila contains noble ideals about the coveted life, namely a society that is just, prosperous and materially and spiritually prosperous within the Unitary State of the Republic Indonesia.
Thus, Pancasila becomes the basis of life in determining the direction of national and state life. Pancasila also fulfills the dimension of flexibility because Pancasila has high relevance to the dynamics of societal development. Pancasila values can be developed and translated to face the challenges of the times and answer the nation's problems in the present and in the future.
The Indonesian nation realizes that it is always changing. The living conditions of the community are always dynamically developing. Advances in science/technological sophistication, as well as the speed of means of communication make the world smaller and strengthen interdependence among the nations of the world.
This means that national development is not only determined by domestic factors, but is also heavily influenced by factors that are globally related (related to the whole world).
