For that we will discuss agriculture and find out what agriculture actually means. What forms and types of agriculture exist in Indonesia, because farmers in Indonesia grow various kinds of agricultural products that make us finally able to consume food. For that, let's just start discussing agriculture as follows.
Definition of Agriculture
Agriculture is a human activity in utilizing biological resources in order to produce materials food, energy sources, industrial raw materials and to manage the environment, that is the meaning of agriculture in generally. But the meaning of agriculture is not only in general but there are still other meanings.
The broad definition of agriculture is the utilization of biological resources by humans using how to plant productive plants that can produce and can be used for life. Or all activities that include agriculture, plantations, animal husbandry, forestry and also fisheries whose results can be used for human life.
But the narrow meaning of agriculture is the process of cultivating plants on a land whose results can be sufficient for human needs. Or the process of farming which is carried out on land that has been prepared beforehand and then managed using a manual method and not using too much management.
Meanwhile, agricultural activities in Indonesia have two types, namely wet and dry farming. Wetland agriculture is land that is inundated by water or better known as rice fields. This farming is usually done more in the lowlands and is usually more often located around 300 m above sea level. Because in general in the region there are many rivers and irrigation for watering.
While dry land farming is agriculture where the land is not inundated by water and of course the plants planted do not need it stagnant water on cultivated land and also usually located above 500 m above sea level but much is also done on land low.
Form Or Type Of Agriculture
In the field of agriculture in Indonesia, there are several forms or types. To be able to find out what forms or types of agriculture, let's continue the discussion below.
1. Ricefield
It is a form of farming that is practiced in wetlands, and rice fields also require a lot of water. Rice fields themselves have forms including irrigated rice fields, rainfed rice fields, bencah rice fields or tidal rice fields, lebak rice fields.
2. Yard
Is a land that is located in a residential area or in a home environment which is generally limited by a fence and this land is often planted with agricultural crops.
3. Moor
Is an area with dry land that is dependent on rainwater. And usually more often planted with seasonal crops and separated from the environment around the house or around the settlement. Moor land itself is difficult to make irrigation because of its uneven settlements.
4. Changing fields
Is an agricultural activity with shifting land, which is usually done on a lot of land the result of clearing the bush after several times of planting and also harvesting it will move land Again. If the soil is no longer fertile, it will move land again to look for other land that is still fertile.
