Definition of Wayang Orang
Wayang orang or wayang wong (Javanese language) are puppets that are staged using people as characters in the wayang story itself. Wayang orang was made by Sultan Hamangkurat I in 1731.
This wayang orang is no longer fought with wayang puppets but has been performed by humans as a substitute for these puppets.
They wear clothes that are similar to the decorations used in shadow puppets. The aim is that their facial shape or facial structure is similar to that of a shadow puppet (if you look at it, from the side), usually the wayang orang performers are decorated/make up their faces with additional pictures or painting.
In wayang orang stories, the stories raised are based on the due epic colossal stories, namely the Mahabharata and Ramayanga. What makes this wayang orang show interesting is that there is a kolosan or individual dance per performer at each story break.
More than that, wayang orang also presents a punakawan character as an icebreaker, which describes the condition of the kawulo alit or society in general and courtiers.
