Definition of Cargo

Cargo is all "goods" that are sent by airplane, sea (ship) or land (container trucks) which are often for trading purposes, both between regions/cities that are in the country or abroad even to countries with international reach or better known as export-import (Warpani 2009:95)

Cargo Types

According to the handler, cargo is divided into two major categories, namely general cargo and special cargo. Meanwhile, from the way of service and the type of product according to IATA AHM, cargo is divided into general cargo, special shipments such as AVI, DG, LHO, HUM, VAL, PER and VUL and others and specialized cargo products such as express cargo courier shipments, same day delivery (Warpani 2009:101)

General Cargo

General cargo is ordinary goods that do not require special handling, but must still meet specified requirements and security aspects. Examples of goods that are included in general cargo include: Household goods, office equipment, sports equipment, garments, textiles and so on.

Special Cargo

Special cargo, namely goods sent that require special handling "special handling". This type of goods can usually be lifted via air transport and must meet special requirements and handling according to regulations from IATA and or the carrier.

Goods or types of materials that cover the special cargo category include: AVI, DG, PER, PESPEM, HEA and so on.

Irregularity Cargo

Missing Cargo

Missing cargo is cargo that cannot be found and according to the notification source, the irregularities are divided into:

Missing at the departure station "origin station" which means that the cargo is lost at the departure station.
Missing at the arrival station “Destination station” which means that the cargo is lost at the destination station.

Cargo Damage

Damage cargo is cargo that is found in a damaged condition or damage to the packing, contents, quality of the cargo itself. Damage cargo is divided into several types, including:

Pilferage, cargo inside which is damaged or lost
Spoilers. Cargo that is damaged and unfit for reuse or destroyed
Torn. Cargo whose packaging was found to be damaged or torn but it is not certain whether the contents of the cargo were missing or were still in complete condition.
Breakage. Damaged or broken cargo is often used for cargo labeled fragile.
Mortality. Often used for live animal cargo including live fish, chicken or other live animals received from the destination station in a dead condition.
Interiorization. often used to express cargo irregularity in perishable cargo such as consumption fish, vegetables and others, namely there is a quality defect or there is a decrease in the quality of the cargo

Overloaded Cargo

Overload cargo is cargo that has made a manifest and also other documents that are ready to be dispatched but failed due to excess cargo capacity on the aircraft.

Found Cargo

Found cargo is cargo found at a certain station which is not the destination station.

Cargo Acceptance Terms

IATA TACT Rules “2.3.2” in general, there are several things that must be considered when receiving cargo.

Cargo must be included in the Ready For Carriage category with the following terms or conditions:

Water Way Bill. Filled in correctly, in accordance with the rules of TACT Rules 6.2
documentation. All documents required for each shipment must be accompanied by other required supporting documents
Marking of package. All cargo of each shipment must be marked with the following items. Describe the Consignee's name, street name and city address as per the MAWB.
Packing. The contents of each shipment must be properly packaged in accordance with the normal limits of transportation.
Dangerous goods. Must be packaged according to the rules of IATA Dangerous goods regulation for live animals leads to the rules of IATA live animal regulation.
Labellingo of Package. Labels must be clearly visible and all old labels or signs must be replaced immediately.
Shipper declaration for dangerous goods. This document must be signed and completed as stated in the IATA dangerous goods regulations.
Shipper certification for live animals. This document must contain a signature and be accompanied by existing files on the IATA dangerous good regulations.
