The Colors of the Rainbow: Definition, Formed Process, Facts and Color Codes
The Colors of the Rainbow: Definition, Formed Process, Facts and Color Codes- What are the colors of the rainbow? On this occasion About the knowledge.co.id will discuss it, covering the process of formation and of course other things that also cover it. Let's look at the discussion together in the article below to better understand it
The Colors of the Rainbow: Definition, Formed Process, Facts and Color Codes
A rainbow is an arc of color that appears over the sky after certain weather conditions develop. The main rainbow can be seen and seen at an angle close to 40 degrees from the horizon. The appearance of a rainbow is also caused by water in the air which acts as a prism, which splits sunlight into component colors and displays the various colors of the rainbow again.
The earliest recorded human history to talk about the rainbow was Aristotle, a philosopher from Greece in 350 BC. His ideas about the rainbow were further explained by the Roman philosopher Seneca the Younger in his book Naturales Quaestiones in 65 AD.
Seneca's theory of the rainbow was very advanced in its time. In fact, he predicted the effects of refraction and prismatic that occur in the rainbow long before this was initiated by Isaac Newton.
The rainbow is a natural object that has been studied and observed by philosophers and thinkers in the past. The rainbow effect is not only found in the sky, but also in other places, such as light refracted from a vessel.
However, there are always 2 things that must exist before a rainbow occurs, namely water droplets and sunlight. In conclusion, Isaac Newton succeeded in convincing that the sun's white light was a combination of several other light waves. This finding in conclusion explains how a rainbow can be created.
Newton also said that the series of colors in a rainbow never change. This is what prompted Newton to come up with the idea that there are 7 shades in the light spectrum, namely red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple.
Rainbow Process Formed
In general, rainbows are created when there is refraction of sunlight by water droplets. Previously, we have recognized that the white light of the sun consists of several other light waves, right.
When refraction occurs, these lights undergo different deflections. There are rays that are not very much deflected, there are also light waves that are very much affected by refraction.
This ratio of the degree of deflection causes the 7 light spectrum to occur in a rainbow, namely red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple.
Rainbow Color Facts
-
Consists Of Millions Of Colors
Do you know that actually a rainbow doesn't only emit 7 shades? But it consists of millions of shades. How come? Yes, because our eyes cannot catch all the components emitted by the rainbow. The human eye can only catch at least 7 shades emitted by the rainbow. Namely, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, purple.
Rainbows Look Different in Each Person's Eyes
The universal shape of a rainbow is forming half a circle. But in fact, the shape of the rainbow that everyone sees can appear different. How come? This is determined by the distance and position of a person when looking at the rainbow.
A light that reflects in the raindrops, can make a rainbow look different to one's eyes. Not only those that are far away, moreover some people who see from a distance of several cm too, can give a different view.
The Position of the Sun Affects the Pattern and Shape of the Rainbow
The third fact that you should know is that the angle of the sun greatly influences the rainbow. This is evidenced by some people who see the rainbow perfectly or not. Both in terms of style, as well as shape. Could it be that you are one of those people who have had the chance to see the rainbow pattern indistinctly? Being small and not perfect?
Yup! This is caused by the position of the sun. A perfect rainbow in terms of color and shape can only appear when the sun is located at an angle of 42. Where is this position only in the morning and evening.
Rainbow Not Only One Kind
The last fact is, the rainbow does not only consist of 1 type. But the rainbow has at least 3 types. The first is a circular rainbow. Consists of 4 shades, and appears at night due to the reflection of the moon.
Second, red rainbow. Where he is the rainbow that appears at dusk. Appears at the time before sunset or dusk, the color of the atmosphere changes to blue, and the result of refraction becomes a red or orange color. So from that it is often called the red rainbow or the twilight rainbow.
And the last one is the rainbow that we usually observe in the morning, afternoon or evening just after it rains.
The Colors in the Rainbow
In fact, the rainbow doesn't only consist of 7 shades, you know friends. When you look at it at a glance, it's true that a rainbow consists of 7 patterns, it's mejikuhibiniu, right? However, if we pay close attention, there are lots of combination motifs in the rainbow.
A rainbow does not only consist of pure light spectra. However, there are also mixed motifs that occur, especially when 2 or more light waves of different hues collide and mix.
However, the notion that a rainbow actually consists of 7 colors is not wrong either. After all, it's true that the main pattern is indeed the 7 pattern. Our eyes also often cannot distinguish the exotic motifs that arise from the combination of these 7 patterns.
So, below, we will try to discuss more deeply each of the spectrum of colors found in the rainbow.
Red
The red hue is a spectrum of hues with the longest wavelengths, which are 625–740 nm. Not only that, this spectrum also has very low frequencies, namely 405–480 THz. In a rainbow, the red hue experiences very little refractive effect.
Orange
The orange color is the second color after red which usually occurs in rainbows. This pattern has a fairly long wave, namely 590–625 nm and a fairly low frequency, namely 480–510 THz. In a rainbow, the orange hue is the hue that experiences the second least refractive effect after the hue red.
Yellow
The yellow color is the third color after orange which usually appears in the rainbow. This pattern has a relatively long wavelength of 565–590 nm and a relatively low frequency of 510–530 THz.
Green
Green is usually thought of as the middlemost color that appears on a rainbow. If we refer to the abbreviation mejikuhibiniu then it is true that green is in the very middle, which is 4th. The spectrum of this light has a wavelength of 500–565 nm and a frequency of 530–600 THz.

Blue
The blue hue is one of the light spectrum that has short waves and appears in the rainbow. This pattern has a wavelength of 450–485 nm and a frequency around 620–680 THz.
Indigo
The indigo or indigo pattern is the second to last pattern that appears on the rainbow. This pattern has the second shortest wavelength after purple, which is around 445 nm.
However, Indigo is usually not used anymore in the light spectrum classification because it is very difficult for our eyes to distinguish between indigo and blue and purple.
Purple
The purple hue is the last hue to appear in the rainbow. This pattern has the shortest wavelength of 380–450 nm and the highest frequency is 680–790 thz. Like short waves, the violet spectrum is strongly influenced by the refraction of water droplets in the atmosphere.
Html Rainbow Color Code
To be more certain, then I give the rainbow color html code to my friend. This code can be used for graphic design using the Photoshop application and the like. besides that I also complete with the names of the colors of the rainbow in English.
