History of the Development of Buddhism in Indonesia (Complete) – The background for the birth of Buddhism was due to several factors whose development has become historical, where the history of the development of Hindu-Buddhist religion is spread across Indonesia.

History of Buddhism

He was the son of King Sudhodana who came from the Kosala kingdom in Kapilawastu. Where prince Sidhartha did not like luxury, then he left the palace and then he went to the forest in Bodh Gaya to do tapa.
He did penance under a tree and finally got Bohdi or Perfect Enlightenment. And then the tree became known as the bodhi tree. The incident occurred in 531 BC when the age of Prince Sidhartha Gautama was 35 years. After obtaining bodhi prince Sidhartha Gautama was known as the Buddha or the shining one.
And from that moment the Buddha began to teach his religion to escape from samsara or misery. This is a form of the Buddha's compassion for society and humanity. Humans are forbidden to live a luxurious life because it can become part of a lust.
It can be concluded that the essence of Buddhist teachings is that humans live in a state of samsara (miserable or suffering). Therefore, every human being is obliged to rid himself of misery by using astavida or the eight paths of truth, for more details, let's discuss it below.
Astavida Or Eight Paths of Truth
- Right view or (Knowledge).
- Intention or (attitude or interest) is right
- Have the right words
- Right action or (behavior).
- Livelihood or (livelihood) is right
- Right effort or (Effort).
- Right mindfulness or (Reflection).
- Samadi or (Concentration of Mind) is right

Buddhist Scriptures
- Winayapitaka which contains the laws of Buddhism
- The Sutrantapitaka contains the teachings of the Buddha
- Abhidarmapitaka which contains information and explanations about religion
Buddhism also does not pursue divisions and differences in the structure of society. So in Buddhism there is no caste division.

1. Mahayana Buddhist Or Great Empire
According to Mahayana Buddhism, humans can reach heaven by using Bodhisattva intermediaries. A bodhisattva is a human who has attained the position of a buddha, but postpones it to be able to return to the world to help people reach nirvana or heaven.
2. Hinayana Buddha or Small Vehicle
The flow of Hinayana Buddhism has the opinion that efforts to reach heaven can only be done by an individual human being.
