Prophet Muhammad's Birth Period

Before the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, many things looked much different than after his birth and were marked by the extraordinary events that occurred at that time.

The Age of Jahiliyah

The Age of Ignorance was the Age of Ignorance, before the Birth of the Prophet. Where the prophets at that time used to worship idols. They are also used to drinking, gambling, immorality and degrading women.

His life moves and is divided into several tribes called "tribes". His life was full of freedom and had no rules in society, so his life at that time was very chaotic.

Events of the “Year of the Elephant”

The event of the "Year of the Elephant" is the event of the invasion of Mecca by the Army of Abraham, at the time of birth Prophet Muhammad. The Year of the Elephant is the year of the attack on the Kaaba by the troops or soldiers of King Abraha, the Governor of Habsyi in Yemen.

The army of elephants he led wanted to destroy the Kaaba because the Quraysh would be more respectable and every year there were always many people who performed the pilgrimage.

This is what made Abrahah want to divert mankind so that they would no longer come to Makkah. Then Abraha founded a large church in Shan'a called Al-Qulles. But his efforts were unsuccessful, no one wanted to come to Al Qulles church. Abraha was very angry and in the end mobilized elephant troops to attack the Kaaba.

Near Mecca, elephant troops confiscated people's property, including 100 camels belonging to Abdul Muttalib, the Prophet Muhammad's grandfather. When the Kaaba was about to be destroyed, Allah SWT sent the bird Ababil to carry the Sijjil pebbles in its beak. Pebbles were dropped right on the heads of each elephant troop to penetrate their bodies to death.

This event is enshrined in the Qur'an Surah Al Fiil verses 1-5. (Letters 105:1-5). This army of elephants was crushed to get the punishment from Allah SWT. It was during this period that the last Uzzaman prophet was born, namely Muhammad from Abdullah and Siti Aminah. This event marked the year Muhammad was born and was eventually called the Year of the Elephant.

Childhood Prophet Muhammad SAW

The Prophet Muhammad since his childhood has experienced life like an ordinary human being, even though he is very glorified by Allah SWT, even when he was still in his womb he was abandoned by his father.

He was born an orphan, and at the age of 6 he was abandoned by his mother. So that he became an orphan, he felt what humans experience in general. And at the age of 8, he was abandoned by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib. The life he lived could be a role model for all mankind.

The Prophet Muhammad was breastfed by Tcustombah for 3 days and by his grandfather he was also breastfed by Halimah As-Sa'diyah and was under his care for approximately 6 years. At the age of 5 months he was able to walk and at the age of 9 months he was able to speak fluently.

As a child he also tended goats. Abu Talib (the uncle of the prophet) took him to trade when he was 12 years old to the land of Sham. He was raised by his uncle after his grandfather died, and cared for and looked after the prophet until he was over 40 years old.

Muhammad's breasts split open

The angel Gabriel stretched the prophet Muhammad at the age of 4 years, then cut open his chest and took out the heart and a clot of blood from the chest of the prophet Muhammad SAW then the angel Gabriel washed it and rearranged it to its place and the prophet Muhammad remained in good health and fit.

Preaching of the Prophet Muhammad SAW

The Prophet Muhammad received revelations to convey Islamic religious teachings and invite mankind to worship Allah SWT. He conveyed his preaching secretly.

As for the people who first converted to Islam or are called Assabiqunal Awwwalun, namely their family and friends, namely: his wife siti Khadijah, his best friend Ali bin Abi Talib, Abu Bakar As-Shiddiq, his adopted son Zaid bin Haritsah, Uthman bin Affan, Zubair and many other family and companions of the Apostle.

For 3 years Rasulullah SAW preached secretly from one house to another. Then came down the letter Al Hijr: 94 (QS 15 verse 94). Which mean "So convey openly everything that has been ordered to you and turn away from the polytheists (QS Al Hijr: 15)”.

With the revelation of this verse, Rasulullah SAW broadcast his message openly. The response of the Quraysh people at that time was very angry and banned the broadcast of Islam which was brought by the prophet even the life of the prophet Muhammad was very threatened.

However, the Prophet and his companions were stronger and more resilient in facing the challenges and obstacles faced with fortitude and patience despite ridicule, insults, ridicule and against all the teachings of the Prophet.
