Akhlakul Karimah: Definition, Types, Characteristics, and Examples – The definition of akhlaqul karimah is good or commendable morals. All humans must have morals when living in the world. Akhlakul karimah or noble character or commendable attitude is a good attitude according to the teachings of Islam.

For someone who has good morals will always be liked by others, even if he sees someone behaving in accordance with Islamic teachings, it is certain that he is good in the eyes of Allah. And one day they will enter heaven with the Prophet Muhammad SAW, as stated in the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad as follows:

“Surely the person I love the most among you and the person I am closest to on the Day of Awakening is the most virtuous person among you.”

This is also reflected in our current condition. By looking at the condition of a nation or country, it can be said to be victorious if its citizens consist of people who have noble or virtuous morals.

On the other hand, if the citizens have bad character, the nation and state will be damaged. Because a nation is known for its morals (morals) if the mind has collapsed then the nation will also collapse.

Let's discuss clearly what is akhalkul karimah, characteristics, types of morals, along with examples in the discussion below:

Definition of Morals

Before entering into the discussion of Akhlakul Karimah, it would be nice if we first knew the meaning of morality. Etymologically, akhlaq comes from the word Al-Huluq, Akhalak means character, character, and ability. In terms of morality, it means easy actions without going through consideration or research.

The word morality comes from the word khalaqa which means events, form, creation, appearance, behavior, which at first glance only have an outward connotation, whereas morality includes both the inner and the physical. Because mental attitude is included in moral material, so it is okay for someone who says politely, his behavior is polite, but he does not have a noble character because he could do so because he wants to get praise or even in the context of deceiving.

Therefore morals cannot be identified with: manners, ethics, decency because they are only limited to things that are outwardly, other than that only related to social relations between humans, while morals includes:

  1. Man's relationship with himself
  2.  Human relationship with Allah SWT.
  3. Relations with fellow human beings
  4. Human relationship with the natural surroundings

Definition of Akhlakul Karimah

The term morals comes from Arabic which means character, temperament, behavior or manners, and habits. While Karimah means noble, commendable, good. So what is meant by akhlaqul karimah is morals or noble morals. Morals have a goal so that everyone behaves or has character in accordance with good customs and in accordance with Islamic teachings.

There are moral principles that we as religious people need to know. Where in Islam the basic or measuring instrument that states that a person's morals are good and bad is the Al Quran and As Sunnah.

What is good according to the Qur'an and As Sunnah is good to be used as a guide in everyday life. On the other hand, what is bad according to the Qur'an and As Sunnah means it is not good and must be avoided.

Types of Morals

To be able to know what and how to have character and moral attitudes. Below are some types of morals that we need to know. The types of morals are divided into two, namely (1) akhlakul karimah or mahampang morals, and (2) madhmumah morals or despicable morals.

As for what is included in the type of morality or commendable morality, among them are:

  • Dutiful to parents
  • Polite to teachers
  • Be kind to you
  • Do good to neighbors
  • Doing acts of kindness to help others
  • Love to Allah
  • Do good deeds and stay away from what is forbidden because of Allah
  • Love and obey the Prophet
  • Love the weak
  • Caring for and caring for animals
  • Nurturing and supporting plants
  • Do the right thing
  • Brave
  • Maintain trust
  • Keeping promises
  • Be patient
  • Sorry
  • generous
  • Sincere
  • The simple Life
  • Always give thanks to Allah

This is an example of good morals. Meanwhile, here are some examples of despicable morality. As for what is the opposite of akhlakul karimah, among others:

  1. envy
  2. Feud
  3. Bring into conflict
  4. Swearing
  5. Riya
  6. Ujub and arrogant (arrogant)
  7. Bakhil
  8. Fraudster
  9. Treacherous
  10. Coward
  11. Nifaq

Characteristics of Akhlaku Karimah

1. Always be kind and friendly to fellow creatures of Allah SWT. (Humans, Animals, Plants and Others).
2. Diligently studying Islamic knowledge, especially Rahmatan Lil Alamin. Meaning: "Whoever follows a path where he seeks knowledge on that path, surely Allah SWT. It will make easy for him the way to heaven.” (H.R. Muslim)
3. Willing to sacrifice and sincerely accept the provision of Allah SWT. (Q.S. Ar-Ra'd, 13:11)
4. Initiative: Allah SWT. said:
"Allah SWT. Will exalt those who believe among you and those who are given knowledge by degrees. And Allah SWT. And Allah is Aware of what you do." (Q.S. Al-Mujaadilah, 56.1)

  3. Commendable Attitude Towards Plants. And Allah has ruined the earth for His creatures. There are fruit and date palms in the earth, which have skinned petals, acorns, and fragrant flowers.
