Definition of Poetry Along with Groups, Characteristics and Examples (Complete) – In every Indonesian language literature, there are certain things that can differentiate one from the other in order to create a diversity of Indonesian language literature.
In literature itself there are many types that we can learn and we can create ourselves such as one type of literature is poetry. We can make poetry ourselves according to what we want but related to the rules in it.
Definition of Poetry Along with Groups, Characteristics and Examples (Complete)
Good poetry will be able to change and can have a big impact on its readers and can make all of them have the same feelings as the author. To understand what poetry is, it will be explained further as follows.
Meaning of Poetry
Poetry is a word that comes from Arabic, namely syu'ur with the meaning of feeling. This can be seen from the meaning of the word which can be an expression of feelings or thoughts that are owned by the maker.
Syair itself is a kind of old poetry in which each stanza consists of 4 lines or lines which can be ended with the same sound. Poetry can be used to describe or describe long things, such as advice, stories, religion, love, and can also be others.
And because of that, there are so many stanzas in the poem. This is in terms of its physical structure, poetry can be tied to the number of lines in one stanza, the number of syllables the words in each line, the number of stanzas in a poem, and other rules in terms of rhyme as well rhythm.
Poetry group
Poetry has 5 groups which are distinguished according to its content as follows.
1. Panji Poetry
This poem is a type of poetry in which it tells about the situation that happened in a palace or something the kingdom, the condition of the people who are in it or also come from within the palace, for example "syair ken heap”.
2. Romantic Poetry
This poem is a type of poetry in which it tells about the love of consolation, it can also be a folk tale, such as the "Bidasari poem".
3. Allegory
This poem is a type of poetry in which it tells about the love experienced by birds, fish, flowers, fruits, or anything else and all of that is just a symbol that exists ideep. Meanwhile, the allegory or satire refers to certain events, such as the "Pangguk Bird Poem".
4. Historical Poetry
This poem is a type of poetry in which it tells about a very important historical event, such as about a war. An example is "The Mangkasar War Poem".
5. Religious poetry
This poem is a type of poetry that tells about a theme of the teachings of Sufism. This poem can be classified as an important poem and this poem is also divided into 4, namely poetry from the history of the prophet, Sufi poetry, poetry of advice, and poetry about Islamic teachings.
Poetry Features
Poetry has the following characteristics:
- There are 4 lines or lyrics in each stanza.
- Does not have an attachment, such as rhymes. What means all is meaning and content.
- Its meaning can be determined by subsequent stanzas (as in a paragraph in a story).
- Patterned rhythm a-a-a-a.
- The rhythm occurs in the middle of a line where between 4 and 6 syllables are skipped.
