Definition of Social Criticism and Its Position as Language (Complete) Language is a communication tool or interaction tool that only humans have. When viewed from linguistic theories about language studies, formulations will be obtained that produce characteristics which are the essence of language. The characteristics that constitute the essence of language include that language is a system of symbols, in the form of sounds, which are arbitrary, productive, dynamic, diverse, and humane.

Language is a means of communication or interaction that humans have in social life. As a system, besides being systematic, language is also systemic. That is, the language has a certain pattern, not arranged randomly. The language system is in the form of symbols in the form of sounds. That is, the symbols are in the form of sounds, which are commonly called speech sounds or language sounds. Each language symbol represents something called meaning or concept.

The language sound symbol is arbitrary, meaning that the relationship between the symbol and what it symbolizes is not mandatory. can change, and it cannot be explained why the symbol conceives a certain meaning (Chaer and Agustina, 2004:12). In addition to the sound symbols of language being arbitrary, there are also those which are conventional (simple) meaning that every language speaker will obey the relationship between the symbol and what it symbolizes.

Through its relationship with the reading public, critical reflection loses its personal character. Criticism opens itself up to debate, tries to convince, and invites contradiction. Thus, criticism is used as a tool for exchanging opinions in the public sphere.

Criticism has the meaning of another term, namely separating and detailing something to do an assessment. In the process, criticism is faced with what is there to be assessed or assessed.

Whether something is wrong or right, criticism is still being made for an assessment. Criticism always has a constructive nature over general responses. Criticism does not always have to be the result of thoughts in the form of reproach or breaking an assumption. But here criticism also has the nature of leading to a good and right path. If it is further narrowed down, criticism is an assessment of value.

Today criticism occupies a very important place in the order of social life. Criticism can be in the form of negative or positive opinions. However, more lead to negative responses. By criticizing, sometimes people are more trying to direct the mistakes that exist. The impression of dropping is more pronounced than giving an assessment that gives constructive criticism.

This is a warm activity in the circle of social life. Many negative criticisms are often leveled. If this continues to occur in the community, then the assessment of the bad things that often happen to society will continue to be a subject of criticism. Even though not everything that happens in society is bad.

Definition of Social Criticism and Its Position as Language

Social criticism has two terms namely, criticism and social. It has been explained above that the definition of criticism is an assessment of giving a response that can be in the form of an assessment of good or bad results. While the definition of social is an occurrence of values that are in the sphere of social life.

In social life, there is social science or science that discusses society which studies humans as members of groups or groups people who are no longer as individuals who cannot be separated from community groups, with a bond of customs, habits, beliefs, or religion, behavior and art or what is referred to as culture which covers all aspects of life, the term is often referred to as sociology.

Social problems that often arise among the community give rise to a strong protest or criticism. Social problems that are happening are often directed at how bad the problems that are happening today are in the social sphere. Forms of criticism of untruth or ugliness in society. Anyone can criticize. Criticism is not only done by those who work in their field.

Anyone can criticize as long as they have a basis for what they are going to criticize. One thing discussed related to social criticism, namely the process of socialization. Because communication is a way for humans to socialize which can place individuals in a position of real social structure.
