  • Induction patterned paragraph. At the beginning of the sentence is the explanatory sentence which is the cause and at the end of the sentence is the main sentence which is the effect.
  • Paragraphs use many examples of special problems or events in their explanations which contain causes at the beginning of the paragraph and effects at the end of the paragraph.
  • Paragraphs have the main idea at the end of the sentence
  • Between sentences that become cause and effect are interconnected.

Types and Examples of Cause and Effect Paragraphs

Below are several types and examples of cause and effect paragraphs, including the following:

Cause and effect

This paragraph begins with special sentences which are causes and then at the end of the paragraph is concluded into general sentences which are effects.

Example:
Sueb likes to help others without expecting anything in return. He is also always kind to everyone. His polite demeanor makes him easily accepted in any environment. Not only that, he also has soft speech. He never said anything that could hurt other people's feelings. Although he is always honest he has appropriate ways to give advice to his friends without causing offense.

Plus he is the smartest person in his class. Even so, he was never stingy with knowledge. Sueb always teaches his friends who ask him. Therefore, naturally, Sueb became a favorite friend and favorite student of the teachers at his school.

Result Cause

In this paragraph it begins by giving special sentences which are in the form of the consequences of something and are concluded to be descending sentences which are the causes of these problems arising.

Example:
The yields of some farmers in Cijantung Village this year are not very encouraging. Thousands of hectares of rice fields can only harvest half. Many rice plants die before the harvest arrives because they are attacked by pests such as rats, stink bugs and so on.

This condition makes it quite difficult for some farmers to meet their daily needs. They have to think to find a way out of this problem. Not only impacting farmers, this year's crop failure also impacted the scarcity of rice on the market, causing the price to almost double the initial price.

Another problem that arises is that the dry springs make it difficult for everyone to get clean water. Coupled with very hot weather to stab the bone. All of the above problems arose due to the relatively long drought that occurred this year.

Cause and Effect 1 Effect 2

In this paragraph there are two sentences that are the result of the causes that have been raised in the previous sentence. But effect 1 will become a cause that can give rise to a series of other effects (effect 2). Here's an example.

Example 1
The riots that occurred several decades ago made money very difficult to obtain. A lot of money lost burned or damaged. Therefore, the government returned to printing as much money as possible to replace the lost money. However, what the government did at that time made a lot of money circulating in the community and there was hyper inflation. As a result, money becomes worthless due to its large circulation and a monetary crisis.

Example 2
The supply of sugar in traditional markets is decreasing, making it very difficult for people to obtain sugar. Little availability in the market makes the price of sugar very high. This prompted the government to import sugar from neighboring countries in the hope of meeting market needs.

However, this policy turned out to make sugar farmers worse off. They complain that the price of sugar is very cheap and not worth the production costs they bear. Therefore, many sugar farmers are out of business.
