Definition of Epiglottitis
Epiglottitis is a disease that infects the throat due to inflammation of the epiglottis which causes obstruction of the airways. This condition usually affects children aged 2-8 years.
This disease is a fatal emergency because there are several fatal cases between 8-12% of infected patients and different conditions for those who respond quickly and are treated.
The condition of epiglotiditis is very threatening to humanity when there is no influenza vaccine. Epiglottiditis disease attacks at night with coughing and high fever. After that the child will experience a voice that changes hoarseness, disfraction, dyspnea and also restlessness after that, severe pain accompanied by panic.
Cough will be accompanied by respiratory distress with sternal and intercostal retraction, then the nostrils expand, as well as cyanosis and tachycardia. The next symptom is that the child will experience a lack of air which can exacerbate epiglottic edema.
