Definition of Parasitism Symbiosis, Types and Examples
Definition of Parasitism Symbiosis, Types and Examples - In the discussion this time About Knowledge will discuss about Symbiosis Paratism. Which in this discussion explains the meaning of paraticism symbiosis, types and examples briefly and clearly. For easier understanding, see the following article about paraticism symbiosis.
Definition of Parasitism Symbiosis, Types and Examples
The definition of symbiotic paratism is an interaction relationship between 2 (two) living things that mutually benefits one organism and harms the other organism. The parasite is the organism that benefits, while the host is the organism that is harmed.
This symbiosis takes food and food reserves from other creatures in order to survive, besides using other living things as self-protection. This can result in permanent loss to the host.
For parasites that live inside the host's body, they are then called endoparasites, and for parasites that live outside the host's body, they are called ectoparasites.
Types of Parasitism
The following are several types of parasitism symbiosis, including:
Below are the types of parasitism, including the following:
Ectoparasites
Ectoparasite symbiosis is a parasite that lives outside its host's body. Usually these parasites live on the surface of the host's body or on parts of the host's body that are difficult to reach. Examples include ticks, mites, flies, ticks, mosquitoes and fleas that occur in animals and plants. Whereas in humans it can be like a virus which can affect the condition of the body and the emergence of various diseases and even organ damage.
Endoparasites
Endoparasite symbiosis is a type of parasite that can live inside the body of an organism or host. In this type it can be called an internal parasite which can live in the intracellular or extracellular environment in the host.
Mesoparasite
Mesoparasite symbiosis is a parasite that can infect fish where some of the parasite's body penetrates to the organs in the host's body. On the other hand, it will be outside the host's body, for example, the parasite Lernaeocera sp. It lives in the gill cavities of fish and can penetrate the heart of the fish which then sucks its blood.
Obligate Parasites
Obligate parasites are organisms that need a host in order to complete their life cycle.
Fluctuating Parasite
Fluctuating parasites are the opposite of obligate parasites in which these parasites can act as parasites and are independent of the host which can continue their life cycle without a host.
An example of Parasitism Symbiosis
Here are some examples of parasitism symbiosis, among others, namely:
Humans and Mosquito Malaria
Plasodium parasites or commonly referred to as malaria mosquitoes are a type of blood-sucking parasite that can harm humans (hosts). The symptoms that arise are fever, dizziness, coma, worse, will cause death.
Parasites and Host Plants
The parasite and the host plant can experience this symbiosis where the host plant will be harmed and the parasite will benefit.
The Latin name of this plant, namely Loranthus, is a high-branched bush plant that can live by riding on other plants which takes the form of food essence from the host.
Vampire Bats and Mammals
Another example of a vampire bat is a type of blood-sucking animal which generally sucks on mammals.
Humans and Tapeworms
Tapeworms which will be found in the digestive system can be detrimental to humans because they can take the essence of food needed by humans which will be used as energy.
Rafflesia Arnoldi Flower and its Host
The Rafflesia Arnoldi flower is a rare flower and can be found in Sumatra, Bengkulu, Irian Jaya. This flower is a type of parasitic flower which gets food from the photosynthesis of its host.
Fleas And Humans
Fleas become parasites for humans because fleas get food by sucking blood from human skin.
Besides being harmful because of the suction, the result of sucking the flea will cause discomfort and itching on the skin.
Panu Fungus and Humans
Phlegm fungus where to find a place to live and get food by absorbing protein in human skin. This is detrimental to humans because there will be discomfort and itching of the skin.
Mice and Farmers
Mice which include types of pests that get food from plants grown by farmers. On the other hand, farmers will suffer losses due to rats which can cause reduced yields or crop failure.
Bird's Nest Orchids and Hosts
Not all types of orchids have beautiful and useful shapes because there are also types of orchids that can take food essence to the detriment of other plants. The symbiosis of paratism, namely the bird's nest orchid, is where this name is taken because the shape of the root resembles a bird's nest.
Fruit and Fruit Flies
Fruit flies are a type of fly found on fruits. The presence of fruit flies can be detrimental to the fruit which will benefit the fruit flies themselves.
Thus the explanation about Definition of Parasitism Symbiosis, Types and Examples, hopefully it can be useful and add to your insight.
