Definition of Insomnia
According to Wikipedia, insomnia is a symptom of a sleep disorder in the form of difficulty sleeping. Another understanding according to Rafknowledge (2004: 57) insomnia is a complaint that often arises in the form of obstacles such as difficulty sleeping, not sleeping restlessness, difficulty staying asleep or staying asleep, frequent awakenings in the middle of the night and frequent awakenings early in self somebody.
Insomnia Symptoms
Vrisaba (2002) Insomnia is a symptom or disease due to lack of sleep or being disturbed by hours of unconscious time which is the most important part of getting to a good night's sleep. Insomnia sufferers are actually also not solely due to frequent lack of sleep or being in a short sleep period, but it is very likely due to several factors other.
According to Laniwaty (2013:13) Insomnia or sleep disorder is a condition of a person with insufficient quantity and quality of sleep. Symptoms of insomnia can be explained as follows:
- Difficulty initiating sleep (initial insomnia) is often caused by emotional disturbances tension or physical disturbances such as excess or there is a disease that interferes with function organs.
- Waking up early (early awakening) is being able to start sleeping normally, but sleep is easily interrupted or wakes up earlier than usual bedtime, and also then can't go back to sleep. These symptoms usually occur with increasing age of a person or due to depression and so on.
Causes of Insomnia
Several factors lead to a condition where it is difficult to sleep for a very long time. Starting from lifestyle and room comfort problems, to psychological disorders, physical health problems, and side effects of drugs.

Feeling More Tired
Fatigue is often felt by everyone who has insomnia, because metabolism in people who suffer from insomnia will decrease its function. That is why people who suffer from insomnia can be seen from their characteristics by often feeling tired quickly.
Easy to get angry
Often people who are sleepy, hungry or tired will be more sensitive, people who experience insomnia, one of which is experiencing fatigue, sleepiness, hunger and so on. That is the reason how people who experience insomnia become more irritable and very irritable.
Stomach Pain
People who are tired of course want to sleep or rest, and even forget to eat. Because of that many who experience insomnia seen from the health of his stomach. Types of Insomnia
Insomnia according to the National Institutes of Health (1995) can be divided into transient (temporary), intermittent (occasionally) and chronic (constant). According to the WHO diagnostic classification in 1990, insomnia is categorized in the DIMS (Disorder of Initiating and Maintaining Sleep) group. According to Lanywati (2001: 14) In general, insomnia is divided into two types namely:
Primary Insomnia
It is a sleep disorder whose cause is not known with certainty and often lasts a long time or is chronic (Long Term Insomnia). Primary insomnia usually causes complications such as anxiety and depression, which can actually cause insomnia to be very severe.
Secondary Insomnia
Is sleep disturbances whose cause can be known with certainty. Causes can be due to factors of physical illness and psychiatric (psychic) disorders. Secondary insomnia is divided into two namely temporary insomnia (transient insomnia) and short term insomnia (short term insomnia).
Temporary insomnia (transient insomnia) occurs in someone who can sleep normally, but because there is stress or tension temporarily making it difficult to sleep. Meanwhile, short-term insomnia is a sleep disorder that occurs in people with physical pain or situational stress.
Overcoming Insomnia
Insomnia caused by certain unhealthy habits or lifestyles can be overcome by correcting them. And if it is caused by health problems (such as anxiety) then you should do therapy to get rid of anxiety such as cognitive behavioral therapy. This therapy can help patients change the thought patterns and behaviors that affect their sleep.
