The Youth Pledge is a pledge of sovereignty for youth which contains 3 points in the text of the Youth Pledge, and in each each of the oath points is an oath for all Indonesian youth in the Youth Movement and also the Women's Movement in Indonesia Indonesia.

The Meaning and History of the Youth Pledge
The first Indonesian Youth Organization was founded in Jakarta by Satiman Wiryosanjoyo in 1915. And the organization has the name Tri Koro Dharmo which means Three Main Goals where its members consist of high school students from Central Java and also East Java or (Javanese ethnic).
The name Tri Kuru Dharmo which later changed to Jong Java. The name change was intended to remove the impression that it only wanted to prioritize the Javanese, and without including Sundanese and Madurese youth.
The birth and also the founding of Tri Koro Dharmo became a proposal for youths from other regions to be able to form organizations to follow in the footsteps of their colleagues in Java.
And then it was followed by the establishment of youth organizations, among others in Sumatra, Jong Sumatranen Bond, in Minahasa Jong Minahasa and then also Ambon Jong Ambon.
Even though it still has a regional character, the emergence and establishment of youth organizations has shown a high awareness. Young people do not want to be left behind by old people in achieving progress and independence.
Meanwhile, in 1927 in Bandung a national youth organization emerged or was established, between another Indonesian youth who have the goal of spreading and strengthening the ideals of nationalism Indonesia.
As an organization that has a national character, Indonesian youth then developed rapidly, in a short time the number of members increased. Some of its branches have a female section and have the name Putri Indonesia.
At that time the youth and students did not just remain silent and the students who were studying in the Netherlands had succeeded formed the Indonesian Association in 1908 and then the students who were in the homeland in 1926 managed to form the Indonesian Student Association or PPPI.
Has members who are mostly students from high schools in Jakarta and also in Bandung. The actions of most of these students were heavily influenced by the Indonesian Association.
Since the founding of PPPI and has been engaged in politics which has a clear line of struggle goals, among others. The achievement of an independent Indonesia and PPPI also always evokes a spirit of unity. For youth organizations that have a large number and then it is advisable to unite into one organization only.
But an odd thing happened when in 1930 what was formed Young Indonesia PPPI did not enter and was also merged into it. And steps to realize the unity of youth throughout Indonesia began in 1926.
And representatives from youth organizations held the first congress in Jakarta. Even though at that time it had not succeeded in forming and realizing a youth organization, it had shown how strong the desire and also the spirit of unity among young people was.
The Second Youth Congress was held from 26 to 28 October 1928. And then steps were taken again to unite all Indonesian youth. But it still didn't work and then at the congress representatives from youth throughout Indonesia declared a pledge of determination that recognized the contents of the original text of the Youth Pledge.
