Serving or Service

Service is the first blow or attack to start the game which is carried out behind the line so that the ball soars over the net to enter the opponent's area. There are 2 types of serves, namely the over serve and the under serve. Both have their own different strengths.

Top Service

There are 3 types of styles in serving over, including:

Top serve floats

  • Stand facing the field.
  • Position both feet in line with the shoulders.
  • Bounce the ball up (higher than head).
  • Hit the ball in the center back.

Overhand Around House Service

  • Hold the ball in front of the body with the left hand.
  • Throw the ball up and give the farthest deviation for the right hand and bend the left foot a little.
  • Hit the ball with a circular swing from the right hand when the position is right and make the left foot the body weight support.

Jump Service

  • Stand a little further from the back of the court.
  • Hold the ball with both hands.
  • Bounce the ball approximately 3 meters from the ground.
  • If you feel you have the right moment, lower your body and bend your knees to get ready to jump as high as you can.
  • Hit the ball like a smash by bending your wrists to create a topspin shot.

After knowing the various ways and styles in the top serve, we also need to know how to do the bottom serve.

Lower Service

  • Hold the ball with your left hand at waist level.
  • Body slightly bent
  • Swing your right hand to hit the ball with your clenched fist
  • This technique is the easiest and most commonly used technique.
  • Under serve is usually done by players who are still beginners.

pass

Passing is an effort made by players to receive, hold, and control. Passing volleyball is the movement of feeding the ball to a friend or returning the opponent's ball. Just like serving, passing also has 2 types, namely:

Upper Pass

  • Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent.
  • Both hands are in front of the forehead, both thumb and forefinger form a triangle. The view must focus on the direction the ball is coming from.
  • When the ball comes, receive the ball with your fingers, bend your wrists inward. When receiving try to relax hands.
  • Push the ball by moving the wrist outwards and followed by a straightening motion of the elbows.
  • Move your feet slightly on tiptoe.

The top pass is usually used by players to pass the ball towards the toser then it can be smashed into the opponent's area.

Lower Pass

The Dig Underpass Method

The position of the right hand is holding the 4 fingers of the left hand and the thumb of the left hand is pressing on the thumb of the right hand or vice versa. The Dig is a technique that is very commonly used by volleyball players. The Dig is also very often taught to students by sports teachers them, this is because the Dig technique is easier to practice and The Dig is considered to have a higher level of accuracy when performing pass.

The Thumb Over Palm Passing Method

As for the thumb over palm, the left hand clenches and the right hand grips the left hand. You need to remember that this technique is the determining technique in the game. If in doing Passing you are quite proficient it is unlikely that the enemy will be able to score, and vice versa if your acceptance is very lacking, so every time the enemy attacks, the possibility that the ball cannot be received properly is very high and can increase the score enemy.

blocking

Block is an effort made by volleyball players to block attacks or smashes launched by opposing players. Block is an attempt to stem/resist an opponent's attack in the form of a smash so as not to score. With effort near the net to try to hold / block the ball coming from the opponent's area.

How to block:

  • Move to position yourself near the net and face the direction of the volleyball that will be smashed by the opposing player.
  • Take a ready attitude to block or block balls that are smashed by opposing players.
  • Doing jumping or jumping with both feet doing repulsion simultaneously, then reaching for the ball to be blocked or dammed with both hands.
  • Land and return to a ready stance.

There are two kinds of blocks, namely:

  • Single block is stem the ball which is done by one player.
  • Double block is blocking the ball by two or more players. Players must combine footsteps and cooperation between blockers in determining the direction of movement of the ball and the time of the jump.

Smash

A volleyball smash is a hard hit when the ball is above the net with the aim of breaking attacks and scoring points. The basic smash volleyball technique needs to pay attention to prefix, repulsion, hitting and landing. Smash is the main hit in the attack which is an attempt to achieve victory.

In order to do well in throwing a smash, players need a high jump and reach.

How to do the smashes :

  • Take a prefix of about 1 to 3 steps.
  • The steps taken are wide feet.
  • As you approach the net, swing your arms back.
  • Stomp both feet one after another, then jump.
  • Then the arm that will hit begins to swing forward, and the back tightens backwards.
  • Hit the ball with your arms outstretched, arms open and shading the ball.
  • While the wrist must be loose.
