Definition of SOEs, Functions of SOEs and Forms of SOEs (Complete) – BUMN stands for State-Owned Enterprises, we often hear about BUMN but sometimes we don't know what BUMN really is? So now we will discuss SOEs.

Often we expect to work in a BUMN company because a BUMN company is a State-Owned Enterprise so that if you work in a BUMN company you feel very proud, right? For those who don't understand SOEs, we will discuss everything here, so you have to listen carefully so you can understand SOEs well.

Definition of BUMN

BUMN is an abbreviation of State-Owned Enterprises, where the entire business entity and also a large part of its capital are owned by the state who have gone through statements directly originating from separated state assets (Based on the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No.19 Year 2003).

Where BUMN is one of the economic actors in the national economic system, as well as private business entities or BUMS and also cooperatives. SOEs have origins from contributions to the Indonesian economy and play a role in producing various types of goods and services that can create people's welfare.

Where SOEs are located in various sectors, including the agricultural sector, forestry sector, plantation sector, sector finance, manufacturing sector, mining sector, transportation sector, electricity sector, trade sector and also sector construction.

BUMN function

SOEs have several functions and roles, for more details what are the functions of SOEs, we will discuss them below.

Where as an economical provider of goods and services that are not provided by private companies
Which is a government tool in managing economic policy
Which has a function as a manager of the branches of production of natural resources for the community at large
As a service provider for community needs
Has a function as a producer of goods and services to meet the needs of many people
As a pioneer of business sectors that are not yet attractive to the private sector
Has a function in creating employment opportunities
Become a foreign exchange earner for the country
As well as having a function as an assistant in developing cooperative small businesses
As a driving force for community activities in various business fields

BUMN form

BUMN itself has various types and also various forms which have been based on the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No.19 year 2003 concerning BUMN where BUMN consists of two forms, namely a limited liability company (Persero) and also a general business entity (perum). To make it clearer, let's discuss it below.

1. Company Business Entity (persero)

A limited company business entity (Persero) is a BUMN that is formed as a limited liability company in which the capital is divided entirely into shares or also at least 51% where the shares are owned by the Republic of Indonesia where the main goal is to pursue profit.

Providing high quality and powerful goods and services
The pursuit of profit in order to increase the value of the business entity

2. General Business Entity (perum)

Public business entities (perum) are state-owned companies whose capital is entirely owned by the state and is not divided into shares. Where general business entities have aims and objectives that are supported according to the approval of the minister, namely to invest in other businesses.
