How the YouTube Algorithm Works in 2023
The YouTube algorithm has undergone significant changes since its inception. Initially, YouTube relied on which videos users clicked on to determine what content to recommend. YouTube has two places to view featured videos: the YouTube homepage and the featured videos feed. Here's how YouTube ranks videos in each space.
Homepages. On this page, YouTube's algorithm works to provide the most relevant video suggestions for each user. View your video performance, watch history, and specific viewing habits of your audience to decide which videos to show.
Featured videos. This section appears in the right sidebar next to the video you're currently watching. The algorithm checks your watch history during a session and makes recommendations based on what it thinks to watch next.

Now that you understand the basics of how the algorithm works, let's look at some ways you can leverage it to get more activity on your channel.
1. Maintain Brand Consistency
Channels should be beacons of consistency. YouTube users need to know what type of content to expect when they see a 'new video' notification. Bonus points if you can identify videos by color, font, and YouTube thumbnail image (more on that in the next tip).
Take a 5 minute craft as an example. You know exactly what you're getting into. It's right there in his name. When you visit the channel, you will see very consistent branding with bright colors and fun illustrations.

4. Optimize for One Keyword
