The javelin throw is one of the number throwing athletics sports. This javelin throwing sport is done by throwing a javelin within a certain distance. Javelin Holding Technique
The way to hold the javelin that is usually done by throwers is the American way and the Finnish way.
American way
The American way is to hold the javelin on the back of the javelin coil with the index finger wrapped around the back of the coil and the thumb pressing it on the other surface. While the other fingers are also loosely wrapped around the body of the javelin.
The Finnish way

Javelin Throwing Technique
Here's how to throw a javelin, starting from the prefix, throwing to the end.
Prefix
The prefix is running carrying the javelin over the head with the arms bent, elbows facing forward and palms facing up. The position of the javelin is above the line parallel to the ground. The last part of the prefix consists of a cross step. At the end, you can take steps in several ways, such as:
- With a tiptoe or hop step
- With a cross step in front or cross step

Javelin Throwing Rules
- The javelin must be held at the place where the javelin is held.
- A throw is valid if the point of the javelin has to stick or scratch the ground in the throwing sector.
- The throw is invalid when the thrower's foot touches the pitch arc, or the 1.5 meter line or in front of the pitch arc.
- In one throw, the thrower may not turn the body completely, so that the thrower's back faces the direction of the throw.
- The throw must go over the shoulder.
- The number of throws allowed is the same as shot put & discus.

Javelin Throw Field
