Definition of Work Climate

Work climate is a description of a quality, atmosphere and character that can be seen in norms and values, interpersonal relationships, teaching and learning atmosphere, organizational structure, positive ties with the institution and the physical environment in the institution where the employee is on duty.

A work climate can be measured by means of the dimensions of safety (sense of security), teaching and learning (learning activities teaching), interpersonal relationships (relationships with other people) and institutional environment (environment Work)

1. Subaris, et al

The definition of working climate according to Subaris, et al is a combination of working temperature, air humidity, air movement speed and radiation temperature in a workplace. Clarity

Clarity relates to employees' feelings that they know what is expected of them in relation to work, roles and organizational goals.

Commitment theme

The theme of commitment relates to employees' feelings of pride in their own organization and a willingness to go the extra mile when needed.

Psychological Dimensions

This dimension includes variables such as workload, lack of autonomy, lack of clerical self-fullment and lack of innovation.

Structural Dimension

This dimension includes variables such as physical, sound and degree of compatibility between work requirements and physical structure.

Social Dimension

This dimension includes aspects of interaction with clients (in terms of quantity and characteristics of the problem), co-workers (level of support and cooperation) and supervisors (support and rewards).

Bureaucratic Dimension

This dimension includes laws and regulations, role conflict and role ambiguity.

The Effect of Work Cliques on the Workforce

Gaesang (2011) explained, there are six influences of the work climate that are not in accordance with the workforce, including:

  • Disturbances in work behavior and performance, such as the occurrence of fatigue, frequent stolen breaks and others.
  • Dehydration. Is a state of excessive loss of body fluids caused either by insufficient fluid replacement or due to health problems.
  • Heat Rash. Is a condition such as prickly heat or dryness of the buttocks, itchy skin because the skin condition is constantly wet.
  • Heat Cramps, is a spasm of the muscles of the body (hands and feet) due to the release of sweat which results in loss sodium salt from the body which is most likely due to drinking too much with too little salt sodium.
  • Heat syncope, is a condition caused by insufficient blood flow to the brain because most of the blood flow is below the surface of the skin or peripheral due to exposure to high temperatures.
  • Heat exhaustion, is a condition that occurs when the body loses too much fluid and or loses salt, with symptoms of dry mouth, very thirsty, weak and very tired.
