Allah SWT said in Surah Al-A'raf verse 197 regarding the Last Day (Doomsday) that no one knows except Allah SWT.

Latin: yas`alụnaka 'anis-sā'ati ayyāna mursāhā, qul innamā 'ilmuhā 'inda rabbī, lā yujallīhā liwaqtihā illā huw, ṡaqulat fis-samāwāti wal-arḍ, lā ta`tīkum illā bagtah, yas`alụnaka ka`annaka ḥafiyyun ‘an-hā, qul innamā ‘ilmuhā ‘indallāhi wa lākinna akṡaran-nāsi lā ya'lamụn

Meaning: They ask you (Muhammad) about the Hour, "When will it happen?" Say, “Surely the knowledge of the Last Hour is with my Lord; no one (one) can explain the time of occurrence other than Him. (Doomsday) is very heavy (commotion for creatures) in the heavens and on earth, will not come to you except suddenly." They ask you as if you know it. Say (Muhammad), "Surely the knowledge of (the Day of Judgment) is with Allah, but most people do not know."

Postulates of Faith in the Last Days

On the Last Day, every human being will be accounted for his deeds. No matter how small a person's kindness, he will be rewarded accordingly. Likewise, no matter how small someone's badness is, he will get the recompense that is appropriate.

  • Word of Allah swt in Q.S Al-Hajj verse 7:

Meaning: "Verily, the Day of Resurrection will surely come, there is no doubt about it and that Allah will raise up all those who are in the graves" (Surah Al-Hajj: 7)

Yaumul Akhir or Last Day according to language is destruction or resurrection. Meanwhile, according to the terms of the last day is the day of destruction of the universe and all in it. Belief in the Day of Judgment or the Last Day is the fifth pillar of faith, no one knows when the doomsday will come, but we as Muslims are supposed to have faith and believe it.

The Day of Judgment begins with the blowing of the trumpet by the angel Israfil, where the blowing of the satrum is to kill all creatures on earth and their contents. It was explained that on that day all the objects in the sky were no longer in order. Neither the stars, nor the planets, nor the moon collided with each other. Mountains erupted, shattered, and scattered. The storm, the waves are so fierce, people are scrambling and unable to recognize their relatives, in the end all life is destroyed and dies.

The incident regarding the Day of Judgment was described by Allah SWT as so terrible, as stated in the following surah Al Qariah and Surah Az Zalzalah.

Meaning: "On that day people will be like the termites scattered and the mountains will be like wool thrown up."

Meaning: "When the earth is shaken with its (terrible) shaking, and the earth has issued its heavy burdens (which it contains),

  • Hadith narrated by Zainab bint Jahsy ra.:

That the Prophet woke up from his sleep saying: Laa ilaaha illallaah, woe to the Arabs for some reason a disaster will occur, namely today the walls (dams) of Gog and Magog have been opened by This. And Sufyan (the narrator of this hadith) circled his fingers to form the number ten (making a circle with his forefinger and thumb). I (Zainab bint Jahsy) asked: O Messenger of Allah, will we all perish even though there are many pious people among us? He replied: Yes, if there is a lot of disobedience.

From Abu Hurairah radhiallahuanhu, Verily the Prophet sallallaahu'alaihi wasallam said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the last day should say good or silent, Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should respect his neighbors and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should glorify the guest".
(History of Bukhori Muslim)

Hadith narrated by Aisyah ra., she said: Rasulullah saw. moving around in his sleep, we asked: O Messenger of Allah, when you sleep, you do something that you have never done? He replied: Surprising! There was a group of people from my Ummah who came to Baitullah because of a Quraysh man who took refuge in Baitullah, so when they arrived at a Sahara desert they were immersed.

We asked: O Messenger of Allah, on that road many people gather? He replied: Right! Among them there are people who are smart, people who are forced and there are also people who on their way all perish in one time they will be resurrected by Allah in different places according to the intentions of their respective creatures Lord.

Hadith narrated by Usama ra.: That the Prophet saw. climbed one of the tall buildings in Medina, then he said: Do you see what I see? Indeed, I see places where slander occurs among your houses like places where rain falls.

  • Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ra.:

That Rasulullah SAW. said: The Day of Judgment will not occur before the Euphrates river uncovers a mountain of gold, so people kill each other (war) to get it. Then ninety-nine out of every hundred people were killed and every one of them said: May I be the survivor

  • Hadith narrated by Sahal bin Saad ra.,

he said: I heard the Prophet said while giving a sign with the index finger and middle finger: When I was sent (to be an apostle) and the time of the Day of Judgment was like this (indicating the nearness of the time of Judgment

  • Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ra.

he said: Rasulullah saw. said: The time interval between the two trumpet blasts is forty. They asked: O Abu Hurayrah, is it forty days? He replied: I can not say. They asked again: Forty months?

He replied: I can not say. They asked again: Forty years? He replied: I can not say. Then Rasulullah SAW. said again: Then Allah sends down rain, so that the corpses grow (rise) like the growth of vegetable plants. There is not a single part of the human body except that everything has been destroyed apart from one bone, namely the tailbone and from that bone the human body will be reassembled on the Day of Resurrection.

  • Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah ra.,

  • Al-Baqarah/2: 177

Due to the importance of this great day, we find (in the Qur'an) that Allah the Exalted often associates faith in Him with faith in the Last Day, as Allah says:

لَّيْسَ الْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلَٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ

"It is not a virtue to turn your face toward the east and west, but actually the virtue is believing in Allah, the Last Day…." [Al-Baqarah/2: 177]

  • Ath-Thalaaq/65: 2

Also as His words:

ذَٰلِكُمْ يُوعَظُ بِهِ مَن كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ

“… Thus is taught by it those who believe in Allah and the Last Day….” [Ath-Thalaaq/65: 2]

Allah Ta'ala says:

“Race you to (get) forgiveness from your Lord and Heaven which is as wide as the sky and the earth, which is prepared for those who believe in Allah and His Messengers….” [Al-Hadiid/57: 21]

  • At-Taghaabun/64: 7

There is an emphasis in the Qur'an on belief in the Last Day, and the determination of resurrection, reckoning and recompense. Allah disavows the attitude of those who think that the Last Day is impossible, and He commanded His Prophet to swear that this is haq (true):

قُلْ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّي لَتُبْعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِمَا عَمِلْتُمْ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ

"... Say (Muhammad), 'Indeed, by my Lord, you will indeed be resurrected, then it will be you will be told what you have done.’ That is easy for Allah.” [At-Taghaabun/64: 7]
