Basu Swastha and Hani Handoko
"The marketing concept is a business philosophy which states that meeting consumer needs is an economic and social need for the survival of a company."
From the above understanding, the company has the consequence that all company activities must be directed to know the needs of consumers and be able to provide satisfaction in obtaining profits in the long run long.
This means that the purpose of the marketing concept is to provide satisfaction to the wants and needs of consumers.
The marketing concept can be achieved by trying to identify and formulate consumer wants and needs.
Companies that meet consumer needs must set products, prices, promote and distribute according to the conditions of target consumers. Corporate organizations that implement this marketing concept are called marketing organizations.

Private
Stating that there are three important factors that form the basis of the marketing concept, namely:
1. Consumer Orientation
In essence, if the company wants to implement this consumer orientation, what is meant is:
- Determine the basic needs of the buyer to be served and fulfilled.
- Select a specific buyer group as a sales target.
- Define product and marketing program.
- Conduct research on consumers to measure, assess and interpret their desires and behavior.
- Determine and apply the best strategy, whether to focus on good quality, low prices or attractive models.
2. Coordination and Integration within the Company
To provide optimal satisfaction to consumers, all existing marketing elements must be integrated.
Avoid conflicts between companies and markets. One way to achieve this coordination and integration is to have one person in charge of all marketing activities, the growth manager.
So it can be concluded that everyone and several companies work together to provide customer satisfaction so that company goals can be achieved.
3. Earn Profit Through Customer Satisfaction

Types of Marketing Concepts
By definition, the concept of marketing or marketing is all behavior carried out by a company when introducing a product. In practice, companies must be able to adjust the products they produce in accordance with market perceptions. Therefore, companies usually use several types of marketing concepts to make it easier to market their products.
Given the importance of customer needs and wants in marketing, we must understand them well.
Our concern for our customers should be based on the following:
- Needs or needs: Something that is important for humans to live healthy, stable and safe. When needs are not met, the results are discomfort, dysfunction, or death. Needs can be both objective and practical, such as the need for food, water and shelter; or subjective and psychological, such as the need to belong to a family or social group and the need to respect oneself.
- Wants or desires: Something you desire, or aspire to. Wants are not essential to basic survival and are often shaped by culture.
- Demands or requests: When needs and wants are supported by the ability to pay, then it has the potential to become an economic demand.
There are many marketing concepts used by marketers as a reference in the field of marketing. Some of these marketing concepts exist today, while others are outdated and have been overtaken by other marketing concepts.
Marketing Purpose
Marketing objective (marketing objectives) is the goal to be achieved by the company through marketing activities. If customer satisfaction and needs are met, it will have an impact on product sales results, and in the end will achieve marketing goals, namely profit. However, if a company ignores consumer needs and only pays attention to producers, then it is very allows a decrease in sales performance thereby minimizing profits and even causing losses loss. Buyer or consumer satisfaction is the most important thing for a company in marketing.
In terms of marketing, keep in mind that we must be very careful, because many bad events may occur at this time, such as fraud and other situations. If we want to dive deep into the field of marketing, please prepare ourselves as much as possible and dare to take all the risks that exist.
