Before we give an example, it helps us to see the characteristics of the editorial text.

Editorial Text Features

There are several characteristics of this editorial text, namely:

Contains general facts and the author's personal opinion.
Analytical.
Use logical thinking in conveying opinions.
Written in a certain perspective to reveal the truth of an opinion so that when viewed from a different perspective, the truth can have a different meaning or vice versa.
Starting from the presentation of general facts first and then followed by the presentation of opinions. It can happen the other way around. For more details, see the explanation section on the structure of the editorial text.

Argumentative in nature so that this text can be called an argumentative text or contains a presentation of arguments/opinions/ideas.
Using certain language rules as will be explained in the next section.

Editorial Text Structure

Actually, this editorial text does not have a definite structure because in fact editorial texts that can be read in the mass media cannot be categorized into a single type of structure. However, in schools it is usually taught about the basic structure of an editorial text which is composed into 3 parts, namely:

Statement of Opinion
Statements of opinion contain general opinions obtained from facts/phenomena that are currently being discussed.
Argumentation/Opinion
This section is thicker with reviews, analysis and personal ideas of the author with a certain point of view so that it feels sharper when compared to the general opinion that has been described in section previously.
This section allows the author to include opinions/quotes from other authors on related topics as ideas to support the author's opinion.
Restatement of Opinion (closing)
This section is more accurately said as the closing. Generally accompanied by a restatement of important opinions that have been described in the previous section.

Thus, the statement of opinion seems more important, important, and can be easily absorbed by the reader.

However, there are many editorial texts whose structure is not sequential as mentioned above, sometimes arguments are written at the beginning of the text followed by statement of opinion, restatement of opinion and closing, or even an editorial text begins with an abstraction that first presents the facts used.

Editorial Text Rules

There are 5 linguistic rules of editorial text, namely:

Written in paragraph form and in one text contains several paragraphs.
Use active and passive sentences.
It tends to be written in formal language as an explanation, and it can also be non-formal in the realm of presenting facts field, for example this text takes facts from the words of sources in the field which are written as they are (language oral).
As with other types of writing, editorial texts certainly use adverbs, conjunctions, nouns, adjectives, verbs, and various types of punctuation in general.
Editorial text can be inserted with quotations as well as footnotes/references in a certain format.

Regarding the new DPR building, the people's representatives should be ashamed of the president

JAKARTA – The discourse on the construction of a new building accompanied by apartments by the People's Representative Council (DPR) has sparked polemic in the community. Even the people's representatives were divided in responding to the discourse on the new building.

Executive Director of the Voxpol Center, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, admitted that he questioned the DPR's discourse insisting on building the new building, while the DPR is seen as having minimal achievements in terms of legislation and supervision.

According to him, a logical consequence is the attitude of DPR members no longer thinking with common sense and the death of conscience.

"The president alone as the head of state has never made any discourse, let alone asking for a new building or palace, even though it is known that the age of the State Palace is very old, while the DPR whines almost every year asking for a new building with various reasons and old cassette songs worn. Even though the age of the DPR Building is younger than the age of the State Palace," Pangi said in a press release, Wednesday (23/8/2017).

Analysis:
There are two types of paragraphs in the news text, namely fact paragraphs and opinion paragraphs. Here's the explanation:

Fact:

Paragraphs of facts are contained in paragraphs 1, 4 and 5 because these paragraphs contain factual content that is currently happening.
In the first paragraph, the fact is that the DPR raised a discourse to build a new building and this has caused polemics in the community in paragraph 3.
The President did not propose to build or renovate the state palace. The fact is, the age of the state palace building is older old than the capitol is a fact, and the legislature always asks for new facilities every year fact.

Opinion:

While the second and third paragraphs in the news excerpt contain opinion text.
First, in the second paragraph, that the DPR has minimal achievements is an opinion even though it is based on facts.
Why opinion? Because the utterance is intended as a criticism as well as an assessment.
While in paragraph 3, the DPR cannot think with common sense and is not accompanied by conscience, in every action it is an opinion formed. based on facts, especially supported by the facts in paragraph 5 which states that in recent years the DPR is the most important state institution corrupt.
